I've been concerned about iron because I have a number of characteristics associated with iron deficiency: - I'm a menstruating female - I'm a vegetarian and have been for 10 years - I drink at least one cup of tea or coffe in a day However, I suspect it's not a problem. A couple years ago I used to see a gyne who would do a finger prick test for iron-deficient anemia at each visit. I always tested in the healthy range. (In fact my iron status improved after becoming vegetarian) Not much has changed since then - I'm still a menstruating, vegetarian tea drinker. I don't show any signs of iron deficiency (my gums are pink, no problems exercising). So I've decided not to worry about it. I've heard that iron supplementation can often be risky, so I've avoided it. Do you think that it is a reasonable assumption that I probably don't have a problem with iron? Should I be worrying about it more than I do? - Robin _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

I would still keep the iron question in mind during Dr. visits and get it checked at least once a year. You won't be anemic until you've depleted the iron stores in your body. Have you been following Dean's iron deficiency on the main list? A worthy thread to follow in my opinion. (It started about a month ago and he just gave an update yesterday) Happy CRONing, Bob _________________________________________________________________ > Join the world's largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. > http://www.hotmail.com
