Frnacesca's response:

Yes I do. Protein is VERY important for CRONIES. If you read Walford he

mentions it's pretty critical. A bit of fat helps you feel full. And the

good fat (which I mentioned in my P.S. post to you is important. You can

put some Omega 3 spread on your potato; and besides it's delicious. Also

it's important to try to get a very wide variety of foods (such as a mixed

green salad) to get the nutrients you need. Just a potato doesn't cut it.

And in fact, many CRONIES feel that white potatoes are poor nutrition. I

only eat the red skinned ones myself. Just a potato may be CR but it's not

ON.

R says:

Is brewer's yeast the same as nutritional yeast?

F responds:

I don't know. I never saw it labeled that way. Go to the Health Food store

and you'll have several choices to choose from. But always it's labelled

Brewer's Yeast.

R says:

But aren't eating fortified cereals pretty much equivalent to taking a

multivitamin (except that the cereal has added sugar in it)?

F responds:

Well some do think so, but I don't. For one thing the whole grains in Total

give you vitamin E and other nutrients in themselves. So I'm getting my

breakfast (with some extra calcium and Vit D in the skim milk) with my

" insurance " policy. (Hey, it's much healthier than the sugary chocolate

bar you've been downing :-) . Check the archives for the fairly recent

discussion on this.

One more tip for Robin and all newbies or would be CRONIES. Read the files.

We have one file which lists the wide variety of foods that one should

strive to have in one's diet. That's an example of what I mean by variety.
