Fear of Soy

I've been a member of this list ( a lurker, though I don't like that term much) for a couple months

now, and have really appreciated the posts I have read.

I've been CR ing now for a few years, and been using soy protein to supplement

my protein intake (primarily from fish, egg whites, and chicken). I have read in Walford's

book, and online too, that there is some question about the health benefits of soy. Too much

apparently correlates with an increased risk of dementia in `old age.'

So I'd like to ask those CR ers here how they have addressed this new information about soy.

Can I still use it, though moderately? What is a reasonable or safe amount of soy to incorporate

into one's CR diet? Just curious....and looking for some direction here.

(I know there is a file on this subject, but for some reason I cannot access the files from my machine.

I go to the main page, but the `file' button is not `hot', and nothing happens.)

With thanks in advance,

Chris

I think the issue with the main list is not so much the inappropriateness ofthe subject. I think the problem is that it is so heavily used that peopleare not pleased to see non-serious posts. If you really try to wade throughall the posts each day, it takes a lot of time. On a slow connection, clicking through the ad link, it's pretty disappointing to get to a post andfind out someone has just said "Great" or "I agree". So, it's not a goodsocial forum. Thankfully, this list provides that. Newbies should ask basicquestions on this list, not the main one. Also, I think people that have notread the book should refrain from trying to get people to explain the diet -wait till you've read the book.
