Thank you for YOUR support. Everyone on this list has been very helpful, and

the main list is very mixed. It seems that some areas of interest are being

censored and/or criticized.

True the main list isn't exactly user friendly to the general

public.

And I have a guilty confession to make: I really like socializing

online and when reading NG's. I mean I understand the topic of the

group and I would socialize primarily about CR and related topics of

course - but the fact remains - I like idle chit chat.:) And I'm

sure the main group in not the place for that so I don't. And I'm

all for science but being a layman the science on the main list often

intimidates me - and though some of the technical topics discussed

there are of ABSOLUTELY VITAL importance (osteoporosis etc.) many of

them seem superfluous. I just could never micromanage my diet to

that degree - I just try to eat mostly healthy foods (yes there is

room for improvement for me *there*) and to CR moderately. The

occasionally DWIDP analysis is about the most I do. I think most of

the people on the main list are fine people though and I think I

could name only one person who's just plain rude and inconsiderate.

(Guess who :-) - no it's *not* ! - he's just overworked and

underpaid)

And " why

> do we have to have two separate lists - why doesn't the support

list just

> disband and everyone combine " . My response: " why would support

list people

> disband with such behavior and insults awaiting them on the main

list? "

: in answer to your post I will simply post here my two most recent

posts to the meta list:

More importantly: why must a newbie be immediately slapped down? Why not

let a newbie have some leeway? What do they know, being new to the group?

Even though there have been apologies, it leaves a very bitter taste in

one's mouth (as I can vouch for). So even if we don't " broaden the rule " ,

let any newbie ask away, for God's sake.

One more rant about off/topic on/topic:

With all the garbage that gets through to the list that is permitted in the

name of " free speech " which BTW is " off topic " (Joe Record's obscenities,

Rae's very lengthy signoff which many of us find offensive, and the

many, many other posts that are pure " noise " ) it is beyond me why we would

then go and pick on some poor newbie who is AT LEAST trying to learn more

about CR.

At least the intent of the newbie is noble. The intent of the other

examples IMHO is not.
