We'll see who else volunteers (or re-volunteers). At the time I " appointed " a couple of leaders and also told them they could elect their own " leaders " if that would be better. Anyway let's see if anyone on the original committee responds with what's happening (although I suspect nothing is happening......)
Guest guest
I got distracted, so I guess I'm looking for guidance on what the format should be. Someone suggested html but that will take some coaching. " Robin M " <r061n@...> on 07/17/2002 03:39:14 PM Please respond to cc: Subject: Re: [ ] cookbook committee??? >What's the story? ? Bob? Are you saying that the committee has been doing something? I don't know beans about tech, but we could just start a file with all the recipes in it. Of course we would need some sort of order (ie. soups, appetizers, main dishes, desserts) so that someone looking for a recipe needn't reinvent the wheel. Guest guest
Hello Francesca, Well, a committee was assembled a while back, but things came to a standstill when concerns over copyright/ownership of posted messages came up. No clear guidance came out of CRSociety Meta about how to proceed without violating anyone's rights to ownership of their messages posted to the group. The issue is still unresolved as far as I know. I suppose this is only relevant if the " cookbook " was to be used as a source of revenue by the group, but that is speculation on my part. Now, with your Group, the same issue arises. Who has the right to ownership of the messages posted to your group. If a " cookbook " is assembled at your web group, are only the recipes posted to your group to be considered in the " cookbook " or will the recipes archived in CRSociety be included, and....is that permissable? All that aside, we need someone with computer savvy. Recipes should be organized by type: salads, desserts, snacks, entree, beverages, etc. The table of contents should have links to the recipes so you don't have to scroll through 150 pages to get to my oatmeal recipe. Searching the archives and finding the recipes is really the easy part of this endeavor. Cutting and pasting will transfer the data we're seeking, but we have to have a web space or what-ever to transfer the data to for assembly into final form. Pictures would be nice too. I'm not a computer type so maybe I see bigger problems than reality, so hopefully someone will step forward with the requisite knowledge or skill and lay out a path for us to follow. Meanwhile, you need to figure out the legal status of doing this and get 's?? approval for forwarding recipes from his archive to yours or from yours to his or from both places to somewhere else. I'm open to all ideas on this subject and would like to " hear " everyone elses thoughts. Guest guest
Hello CRONies, It seems that CRS Meta is in the process of organizing a cookbook on the home page for CRSociety based on the recipes that are already archived and allowance for adding new recipes directly to the data base which will include a search engine. I suggest that since CRSociety is setting up a cookbook, there is no reason why a second and different cookbook can't be assembled here. Many people actively participate in this group but only lurk at the other group, feeling more comfortable in a less structured group. I think many of the participants here have recipes archived away on their computers that would be of benefit and interest to all who read here. I intend to post my own recipes at both places if both set up a recipe section. Robin has presented herself as having the requisite computer savvy to accomplish what needs being done here. I think the women of this group ought to step forward to assist because women are more familiar with recipe structure/wording/flow and I'm worried that if I set up the organization of the recipes, they may read more like plans for installing a ceiling fan. I would only suggest that each recipe be titled with the author's name like Francesca S's Flavored Guar Puddings or Bob's Oatmeal and avoid adjectives like Low Calorie.... or Best Tasting.... As an appointed member of the Cookbook committee, I vote Robin as committee chairwoman and await the response of other committe members and interested parties as well as Robin's reply.
