Guest guest
Hi Everyone: I am just getting started with CR, and won't start it for 2-4 weeks (need to get tests done). Meanwhile, I'm reading Beyond, 2d ed, and trying the do-it-yourself biomarker tests. The static balance test is driving me nuts. I did it in 1997 and got an average pretty close to 30 seconds, and now that I try it again, my scores range from 40 seconds down to 3 seconds, and all over the map in between. It seems that if I concentrate, quell my anxiety, and focus, I get longer times on average than if I just give it my best without the mental focus. How important is this test as an indication of functional age? If I'm to believe some of my recent results, 5 years ago I was functionally close to 30, and now well over 50. Seems a rather precipitous decline. It also seems that, if I practice the test for a while, I can stand longer. Is that cheating, or am I just figuring out how to do it? How much does this test vary from person to person, assuming they have the same functional age? Thanks
