Guest guest
I don't want to cut into Greg's business :-), and I haven't done much checking as to price, but go to www.google.com and type in 'wolfberries' or 'wolfberry' There are at least a couple of sources here in the US. How many kgs would you buy at say US $20 / kg (2.2 lbs) + shipping? I would suggest 15 g > (3,795 ORAC units) / day = 1/2 kg per month / person. Guest guest
Thanks for the offer Greg, but I'll pass. Upon Iris' suggestion I did a google search and found that http://wolfberries.com/ seems to have the cheapest for about $.04 US / gram. I've been buying these dried wolfberries and/or lychees at about $10/kg in small (340g or so) packages at Vietnamese shops in nearby Philadelphia (US). I believe they sell both " wolfberries " and " lychees " with the same packaging/price (scientific names on labels are different--the batch I currently have is " Lycium Barbarum L., fruit of Barbary Wolfberry " --I'll make a note of the other types next time), but I wasn't aware of the difference the last time I bought some, and so I just grabbed them off the well-stocked shelf where I had bought them last. They're visually indistinguishable in any case. I can hardly imagine a place in the US that doesn't have a Chinese or Vietnamese shop in a nearby city that sells them. They're so delicious it's hard not to overdo it... Good in vegetable salads... Can't wait till summer for fresh ones... There's seems to be a huge Vietnamese population in Philadelphia-- full-size supermarkets with great produce aisles! If there's anyone in the US who's going to have them sent from Australia (!?) at a higher cost, I don't mind throwing some in a box for you--I would feel bad! I guess it's kind of nice to have this on- line community type thing happening--I definitely appreciate all the informative posts, especially from Greg --I hope the fat business gets figured out before I get too old!
