Of course I will make it, but the test will be for > my husband and I not to eat it, too! This seems like an informative and warm group. Looking forward to learning more from all of you. Welcome ! Yes we pride ourselves on being knowledgeable AND nice!! It sounds like you're one leg up on a healthy lifestyle. Good for you. Also there aren't many couples practising this lifestyle. Most of us are CRONIES married to non-CRONIES. So that's another plus for you (and it's easier with a supportive spouse). Some possible suggestions for the " blueberry pie " and other similar dilemnas: 1. You and hubby could partake but keep it to a sliver of a portion (a strategy I use often when offered goodies at friend's and relative's houses) 2. Alternately (but a bit more work) is to bake a " kid's " pie and an " adult " pie. The adult pie would have a whole wheat crust, no butter (but perhaps an omega 3 spread substitute) and no sugar (instead use fruit as the sweetener or sucralose or Splenda). You would still partake lightly as fruit is of course, no lightweight in calories. Nevertheless this would be a much healthier pie. 3. You could substitute another CRONIE type dessert (or the best of all - fresh fruit) to satisfy your sweet tooth. We now have a list of member's recipes in the archives. Click on that file folder to open and then click on " desserts " . BTW if you have any good dishes to add to this new file, by all means let us know. My only concern is that I don't want my kids to become calorie or fat obsessed (poor body image). Since and I have been talking about CRON, my 4 year-old asked me about " calories " . > > You BAKED A BLUEBERRY PIE for your son??? Oh my goodness!!! YOU >are a SAINT among women. What a GOOD MOMMY!!! (Would you like to >adopt a couple of 18 year old boys?) > Believe me, I am no saint, and sometimes I feel like a less-than-adequate Mommy. That said, I do have an huge LOVE of cooking. I make almost everything from scratch (except for sandwich bread and yogurt.) My husband joked that he never ate the same dinner twice the first 2 years of our marraige. I love cooking more than eating. Weird, I know. I ended up making the blueberry pie with a whole wheat crust with no trans fat shortening and cut back the sugar in the berries (they were very sweet as it was). The kids loved it and and I had little slivers. Whatever works.
