Guest guest
Steve and CR Support List ALL: Like Steve, it was the same for me with diabetes. It was because of my family history of the disease that I first became interested in CR. Now we know that adult onset diabetes II is not a " disease " of the classic type at all, but simply a result for most people of poor dietary choice. My sister has pre-diabetes now in her 40's. And my Aunt Stella died of diabetes. Two of my brothers, 8 and 10 years younger than I, are already going prematurely bald, or are already fully bald. They both weigh between 225 to 275 Lbs. I weigh 125, and have a full head of hair. I am not better than anyone else -- just thankful that like Steve, that I happened to discover CR, and had others to show me the value and the CR way. I do feel that we have an obligation to support new people on our List, and to take a pro-active stance to make the CR message more broadly known to a broader cross-section of the Public. Those willing to dare to stick their necks out to interact with the media (who can sometimes be unkind and maybe even heartless), I greatly respect. Francesca (Skelton) and Bob Cavanaugh come to mind for their personal publicity efforts. Will there be more like them. I bet there will be! Francesca has considerable PR (Public Relations) experience and skill. Bob interfaced with the newspaper media recently, and has a nice Internet posting that I believe is cross referenced on our Internet site. Francesca's PR work was also featured on the Internet (was it the NY Times?). We really should make sure that each person who is featured on the Internet has a slot on our CR Society website. Perhaps Francesca, who is good friends with Suzi Katz, our Internet site designer and implementer, can get some of these people recognized, to include her own contribution. In the future, we should remember each one, and not forget the past ones who have been featured in news media coverage. PR work is not easy, and those enthusiastic souls who undertake the cause earn our respect. -- Warren > On 24 Jul 2002, Steve Sergeant wrote: > > Hi!
