Guest guest
: if you're already slender, you probably don't need to lose very much (if any) weight. Perhaps you just need to concentrate on the " ON " part of CRON - optimizing your nutruition. You can find extensive postings on the osteoporosis problems of some of us by searching the archives on the main list. We don't know if it was brought on by losing too fast, losing too much, or whatever. However, when weight has stabilized, bone loss seems to have stopped - so the lesson is go slow!!!! After the first few months of rapid weight loss, you should be sure not to lose too fast. Also if you're a male, be prepared for lowered testosterone levels which will of course lead to lower sex drive. However, this is considered, by many on the lists, at this time, to be one of the signs that you're truly on CR! Some feel that high testosterone levels and long life are not compatible- again search the archives if you want to dig deeper. Any such diet as ours also attracts a number of people who will carry things too far or who become obsessive about losing as much as possible. Thus the moderation mantra, which is often repeated. This is the first human experimentation with CR, and although the primate trials are going well in the laboratory, we just don't yet have the human scientific data in yet, that would make CRON a 100% sure thing with no drawbacks. BTW, I too have osteopenia, and am taking medication for it. In my case, I don't know the cause because I'm in a high risk group anyway - small build, white, post-menopausal, caucasion.
