Guest guest
I saw Dean on NBC News and didn't think it was a flattering portrait of CR. Dean is very thin and one of the more extreme practitioners, but also, it seemed to me, that they stressed the negatives, his osteo, and his low sex drive (bravo to Dean for talking about that to a nationwide audience). Unfortunately they never stress that many of us are more moderate and still receive many health benes. You don't have to look like a concentration camp survivor. I look fairly healthy (pic of me in the files on the main list) and don't go to extraordinary lengths in my CR. I mold it into my life; it's not my raison d'etre; however whenever I tell the media that CR is not about extreme weight loss, they ask for someone who IS an extremist (it's more " sensational " ). What did everyone else think of the segment? Perhaps some of you thought it was more positive than I did?
Guest guest
I agree with you on all points, Francesca. No one will be attracted to CRON based on the NBC broadcast. I am saddened that the networks are so focused on the sensational and negative aspects. ABC was supposed to interview me, but has not. I too am in a normal weight range and have no negative health effects so far - only many positive ones. With obesity such a problem, it seems a shame that CRON is portrayed as a " non-solution " . I think there is too much emphasis on extremism. Many of the CRON extremists used to be some other kind of dietary or exercise extremists before CRON. People that do not have this tendency can use CRON to become healthier and extend their life without any danger of taking it too far. We all do not have to become walking lab experiments. Perhaps the answer is to emphasize the health aspects and not the longer life aspects. IOW you needn't even cut calories to gain benefits of a healthier life, no matter how long it is. My calorie cutting is modest, but my bloodwork still shows I'm a CRONIE, and I haven't had a cold since from almost the day I started.
