Guest guest
Thanks for your very gracious welcome. I'm not sure I've got a whole lot to offer yet, but I'm glad this group exists and I appreciate all the information that people share. I've been lurking because I'm still in the very early stages of interest in CRON, trying to improve the quality of my diet before I get down to the serious calorie-cutting. I've found the recent discussions about people's relationship to food, feelings of emptiness, etc., to be fascinating, and I also really like the recipes and tips that people offer. I've added some easy things to my diet (blueberries and ground flax seed in smoothies, etc.). The thing that is probably slowing me down the most in adopting CRON is emotional issues; like several other list members, I also tend to use food to comfort myself (not so much overeating, but eating junk food instead of making healthier choices). Basically I've got two modes: the " light " mode where I'm eating relatively well and do enjoy a slight feeling of emptiness (it feels clean to me) and my more normal mode of feeling like I need treats fairly often. (And it's much easier to go from the light mode to the treat mode than vice versa.) Also, I still haven't really got a good handle on what my caloric intake should be, but maybe there's info on this in the files that I just haven't found yet. For a moderately active woman of my size (5'1 " and 100 lbs.), I think it takes only about 1400 cal/day to keep me going, and I'm not sure how safe it is to dip too far below that. Has anyone else grappled with this? Thanks again for the welcome, and I hope I haven't worn it out. On Fri, 7 Jun 2002, Francesca Skelton wrote: > Thanks . Has anyone > else grappled with this? : Walford warns against going under 1000 a day in BT120YD. You sound like you're already thin. Why don't you start by concentrating on the ON part? Walford suggests reaching for the banana, apple, orange instead of the junk. Pig out on healthy food if you're going to pig out. Try a fruit salad topped with yogurt and sprinkle some few nuts on it. Yummie. Or try my CR Hot fudge sundae idea. Delicious. I also recommend pigging out on guar pudding; I'm really into it (in case noone's guessed by now :-))))
