Guest guest
Hi Lina: If you don't want to lose any more weight, then you shouldn't reduce calories. We do have many tricks to reduce hunger for our members. Read the files especially: " Aids and Tips " . Our files are a compilation of our best recommendations. To access the files, just go to our home page: / At the left, click on " files " . Then click on the file you want to read. Thats all there is to it. The files are jam packed with useful information. Have you read Walford's " Beyond the 120 Year Diet " ? The reason I ask is your listing of your major foods: olive oil, aged cheeses, wine, chocolate. These are not the kinds of foods typical of a CRONIE. Olive oil and wine are eaten in moderation only; cheese is definitely not a CRONIE food and full fat, sugared chocolate is not. So, please read the files and the book. It's really a requirement for a CRONIE. on 9/20/2002 4:33 AM, linaspinelli at LinaSpin wrote: > << Also: we would need more info from you to help you. Guest guest
Francesca says: “The reason I ask is your listing of your major foods: olive oil, aged cheeses, wine, chocolate. These are not the kinds of foods typical of a CRONIE.” Of course, I agree with you Francesca that CRONies typically do not eat a lot of these foods – they would not be major dietary components. But I wouldn’t want to leave the impression that they are forbidden or evil. Many CRONies eat mostly olive oil as their fat. Many eat some chocolate and indulge in a little wine. Until I found out that milk was my worst food allergy offender, I ate an ounce of aged cheese every day – usually sharp cheddar, feta or parmesan – those with the most flavor. I am one of those CRONies that eats pretty high fat – 35-40% of calories and I have little or no problem with hunger on 1100 calories/day or less for 2+ years. We are all different though – I have never needed a lot of calories and gain weight easily. I find that bulk does not help me feel satisfied. I must have lots of flavor and a little “richness”. I’d rather have a small peach or a handful of berries than a gallon bucket of guar pudding. (Yes, I know you can flavor the guar, but I still would rather have the fruit). I have often eaten small quantities of relatively nutritious and rich foods on CRON – they are good for the soul – nuts, avocados, egg yolks, liver pate. Lina – your experience is consistent with my theory that the naturally thin have the most trouble with hunger on CRON. Lifetime dieters like me seem to adapt more easily. I am less hungry on CRON than I was ad lib by far. As an experienced dieter, I have gone through this adaptation dozens of times. Here is my experience. There is an initial discomfort period when you cut calories (like the Atkins induction thing) that lasts a couple of weeks. You are hungry, cranky, and uncomfortable. Then your body “shifts” to a more efficient state and needs less calories. You feel better – even great. You have to stick consistently with the lower calories for a couple of weeks – don’t cheat or it stops the process. You may lose a few pounds, but then it should level off and your loss should stop. If you increase your calories back up for a couple of weeks, your body shifts back and you lose the advantage.
