Guest guest
Hello " panderson14me " , This is actually a bit hard to answer, since I don't know EXACTLY what you are doing, where you are, or how things are set up on your computer. And, it seems exact answers would be the most helpful, which makes it iffy to try to help. > > I cannot find how to get to the previous page (to go backward). IF you are reading a SINGLE MESSAGE then the URL at the top of your browser looks something like this: /message/159942 IF you are reading a SINGLE MESSAGE, then you can go to the next message by clicking the left-mouse-button on the text " next message > " . This text appears at the right edge of the screen, both above the message and below the message. (This assumes some things about your computer and mouse button set up, so, again, I can't guarentee that is correct, but it is likely to work....) You could be reading messages in " expanded " format, and viewing several messages per page. Then the link to look for is " next > " Some futher notes: In some cases the text on the page will be " too wide " to fit. In this case the link ( " next message > " or " next > " ) will not appear unless you SCROLL to the right. For an example of what I mean, go to < /post? act=reply & messageNum=159942 > {warning: this link may not work correctly-- if part of the text is blue and part is black, it will not work right} This is a page that is " very wide " . When you view it, you most likely will have a " scroll bar " at the bottom of your browser window. The " next message > " link is not visible to you until you move the scrollbar over to the right. This happens only on SOME messages. Can be very confusing. To " move " a scroll bar, you left-mouse-click on the " bar " , hold the mouse-button down, and move the mouse over (to the right). If you are viewing the LAST message (or the last page of messages) the link will be greyish (rather than blue). You can't go to the " next " message (or next page) in this case. > > I cannot find how to get to the previous message from the current > message. Same as above, but look for text that says " < previous message " (if viewing ONE message) -- or " < previous " if viewing a page of messages. > > I cannot find how to get the author to the messages back on my screen. I can't answer this as I don't know what you mean. If you want you can reply and try to say what you are wanting to do in different words, since I am not understanding this. The part I don't understand is " get the author to the messages back on my screen " . > > Did I mention I was computer and illiterate? no, but I can see you are trying hard and having difficulty. > > I know why they keep changing these things- it's got to be to get > stupid people like me to get off the boards. no, it just seems that way You can find some additional comments on how to do various things with here: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_groups.html Even though the things at this page may NOT help with what you asked, there may be some things there that are helpful. It may be worth giving it a quick read to see if anything there helps you out. good wishes, Moria >
