Guest guest
Welcome Anai: We have an extensive member's recipes file and also a listing of links to many healthy recipe sites. The files are at the home page: / Just click on files in the left hand margin. You'll see one that says : 'Member's Recipes " and another that says " Links to other healthy recipe sites " Enjoy. Our diet, based on sound scientific experiments is a low calorie/highly nutritious one. It's based on the work of Dr. Roy Wolford who conducted experiments that show that this diet enables one to live healthier and longer. I think the microbiotic diet is a bit different. Do you want to explain exactly what it is and why you chose that diet for yourself? on 8/30/2002 10:06 PM, anairhoads at anai56@... wrote: > Hello everyone! > > My name is Anai, and I *just* joined this group. Guest guest
Thank you for the welcome! I have skimmed through some recipes. My main reason for choosing a microbiotic diet is prevent cancer.. and of course longevity. I am Vegan (although recently I snuck in some mozzarella oops). I am not trying to lose weight, as i am 5'4 " and 113 lbs. I just want keep healthy as I am diving into my 30's (eek). How long have you been on the CR diet and how has it changed your life? Guest guest
30s!? ~ Are you complaining about heading into your 30s?! Just remember Ania, in this highly optimistic group that is just a teenager! I wonder if your comment about being a vegan will spark debate among the group. I was a practicing vegan for many years, but had a tough time maintaining adequate protein intake for the level of exercise I was engaged in. I have since added fish, eggs (mostly egg whites) and an occasional bit of chicken and or lean game meats like venison, elk, or buffalo (not a game meat but extremely lean). I don't know which is better, but my workouts are much easier with these added sources of protein. Good luck with everything and nice to have you onboard! Guest guest
Hi Dave I am not worried about aging. Especially since becoming Vegan I have reversed into my early 20's. Someone actually thought I was 15 a few weeks ago.. askingm e which school I go to! LOL! That wasn't much of a compliment to me though. I'd rather be 25 than 15 anyday. The protein issue isn't really a problem. Many think it is with those who are Vegan, but you can get enough protein without meat, dairy, etc. http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.htm The following article is partly why I am Vegan.. http://www.btinternet.com/~bury_rd/why.htm Hope this helps! Thank you so much for the welcome. May I ask if you are still Vegan or just using CR? And what have you noticed with the CR if you are using it? Guest guest
I just wanted to clarify something. KT's book where it states " Do mix vegetables " is a misprint...you are NOT supposed to mix vegetables. It shows that later in the book, I believe in the Q & A section. I thought I would point that out since that actually is a pretty bad misprint to have in the book...it's an important part of the diet, according to Simeons. Thanks for the recipes NightOwl!! Guest guest
- what phase are you talking about. in phase 1 you can use oil and fats and mix vegtables. I made a great tasting chili with organic ground meat (beef, chicken, turkey. Put everything in a crock pot or cook on low in big pot with cover on the stove. you can add tomatoes, onion, garlic, beans,2tab tomatoe paste, cayanne, paprika. You are never to be using deli meat or eat in resturants, unless they are orgainic resturants. what about organic? are you only using organic including- meat, chicken, fruit, veg, spices, tea's. as stated we need to use organic, because of all the crap that is put in the food today. (this was not present is the 50's-60's). in phase 2, which is where i am, nothing i eat is bland. i add water to a handfull of chopped tomatoes, add parsley, garlic, pepper & basil(all organic)cook on low for 10-15min.then add 100g(3.5oz) of sliced up chicken or wild fish (listed in the book), for 1-2min. shut off the heat. add the lid and wait another 2min. it's perfect, not overcooked and the taste is tremendous. You can also had cayannne to anything. Your supposed to be eating hot(spicy)food to increase metabolism. for the meat i usually use onions with pepper, garlic, cayanne water for 5-6min until tender and then add the meat. hope this helps -- In , " nightowl0001 " <dallayce@...> wrote: > > I was just reading a thread at NC and I > can't find it now.
