Kathy, I think we all try to optimize our nutrition as much as possible, but the KISS method (Keep It Simple Stupid) is important too. Remember that no program will work unless you can stick to it. Compliance is everything! If you make yourself crazy counting how many fatty acids can sit on a pinhead, you'll likely give up the whole program before you see and feel any improvements in your health!

The more you read, the longer you follow our posts here, the more tricks you'll pick up. Here are three steps to take that will immediately improve your nutritional status: 1)Remove all junk food from your diet 2)Eat a wide VARIETY of whole foods, emphasizing but not restricted to vegetables and 3)Choose foods that are "close to God's hands" (whole grain instead of refined flour, for example).

Thanks for the advice Suz.

Trying to low carb and eat healthy for my PCOS I have already cut out junk food and sugar from months ago. I have cut out most grains and all wheat. I only have grains if they are in something else as an ingredient. I did just have a run of eating some rice flour based, no refined sugar cookies and low carb naturally sweetened chocolate a week ago but I think that was my hormones going out of whack from the detox the naturopath had me on. After the initial detox I did some food challenges and was amazed at which foods affected my body badly. Eggs were particularly bad which was a blow since I was eating a good number of Omega 3 rich eggs each week. I also tested badly for wheat, peanuts, corn, and citrus. I have certain vegetables I always eat so I am trying to expand my repertoire. I don't really cook though. I'm more of a preparer. I need things that are easy to have ready quickly but are still tempting and appealing to my tastebuds. That program at calorieking will be a big help I think. he trick will be to pick the best foods that will give me the most nutrients while still keeping protein up and carbs down.
