Get enough sodium (sounds as you are in diuresis.) "Detoxing" from food is VERY questionable. Do not get weak or put your physical or mental health in jeopardy. Guest guest
I wasn't going to post this but I've decided honesty is the best policy. I went into this CRON thing whole hog as of last Monday. As a point of reference, this is what I was eating for the most part..... Breakfast: Blend: 1/2 to whole banana, cube of tofu, cup of blueberries, milk or kefir. If not enough pour over oatmeal or whole oats. Lunch: large salad with : romaine lettuce, chpd spinach, red pepper, raw sweet potato, broccoli or broccoli sprouts, long grain rice, beans, chpped red cabbage, onion, salza. Season with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. Dinner: steamed veggies (cruciferous such as broccoli, brussel sprouts, , kale, cauliflower), sliced carrots, onions, garlic, sweet or white potato, topped with tomato sauce. Add 3 1/2 oz. fish or lean meat. If not enough add whole grain bread (no butter or margerine - olive oilw/mashed garlic or other omega 3 spread) Almost immediately I began feeling " down " . I couldn't get to sleep and the sleep I had was more restless. I was getting up to urinate 3 or 4 times a night instead of the 1 or 2 times before CRON. I was waking up utterly exhausted. Each day got worse until I got sick Wednesday night. I've been off work ever since with a horrible head cold that started with a sore throat. Here's what's weird. For the last three years, while eating what would be considered a horrendous diet with lots of saturated fat and simple sugars and calories. I haven't been sick once. I know, go figure but as soon as I start this " healthier " way of eating, my immune system goes down and boom, sick for the first time in three years. VERY FRUSTRATING ! I know most of you are thinking right now that this has to be a coincidence but I remember 5 years ago or so the very same thing happened after trying to start a " healthier " lifestyle. I've been eating crappy again ever since getting sick. As of today, I go back to work even though I still feel horrible. Any and all thoughts on this subject are welcomed. I DO plan on going back to at least the ON part shortly. I'm off to my 3-11 shift right now so won't be responding until later to night but please everyone post away. Guest guest
You need to do more research into how your body reacts to food. Didn't anyone tell you you will go through an initial detox stage before your body adjusts? If not, you should have known this anyway. When I quit smoking I felt like I was going to loose my mind! My brain was accustomed to receiving a daily dose of nicotine and modified it's mechanics to suit my filthy habit. When my brain was forced to operate without nicotine, it functioned on a superior level, but only after some healing time had passed. Your body has learned to adapt to your admittedly " horrendous diet " . That horrendous diet has caused a lot of damage and poisoned your body! All of the toxins and poisons in your system are floating to the surface and your body is trying to purge them! You have to suffer through at least 8 days before you escape the symptoms of detox. Then, after a few weeks, you notice an energy level you never knew you had. Your mind is sharp and focused. Your body goes through a healing stage and begins to recover from bumps, spills, scrapes whatever! Your immune system reorganizes and you become resistant to illness. Heroin addicts and alcoholics would rather smash their heads into a wall than have to go through DTs. But is they want a life, they do go through it. I they can, you can. You ARE going to have a major case of the DTs. It's called 'withdrawal'! And you have to tough it out to get to the results you obviously seek! Guest guest
Jam: Your post seems to indicate you're not a youngster (for example, you generally get up several times at night to urinate, even on your lousy diet). The older you are, the more trauma such an extreme change in eating will be to your body. And trauma could weaken your immune system. I would suggest easing in rather than all or nothing. You've probably suddenly cut your calories. You should do this gradually rather than shift one day to the next so drastically. I was disappointed myself when after 3 months on CRON, in August of 2000, I caught a cold. I thought once on CRON, I was supposed to be immune. But it takes a few months for your body to adjust and get stronger. I'm happy to say that I have not had a cold since. on 9/30/2002 2:12 PM, ran7972002 at Jammer7@... wrote: > I wasn't going to post this but I've decided honesty is the best > policy. > > I went into this CRON thing whole hog as of last Monday. Twice could still be a coincidence. How many times have you started eating healthier for a while and DIDN'T get sick? FWIW, last winter I went vegan and gave up chocolate and sugar, and my fibromyalgia, which I've had for years, went completely away! Get back on the healthy diet - it can only be helpful in the long run, as soon as your body stops craving the bad stuff. Dot
Guest guest
> wasn't going to post this but I've decided honesty is >the best >policy. You did very right to bring it to us >I went into this CRON thing whole hog as of last >Monday. As a point >of reference, this is what I was eating for the most >part..... This way of view things is not right. FIRST: The objective of the CRON is to consume a healthy diet. Lots of fruits and vegetables and fewer calories as possible, but within the biological limit your body can stand it. SECOND: You *were* on an healthy diet by what I've seen in your post. So why you decide to change if your parameters of health were good ? THIRD: That's a lot of things to consider before start CRON. Your BP, your total Cholesterol, TG, WBC, etc. FOURTH: The main questions? What about your absorption of calories ? Did you absorve well the calories ? Are you weigthing foods and calculating the calories? Don't you were eating below the lower limit of security (1600 kcal/day)? What is your basal metabolic rate? Did your BP raised above 120/80 mmHg? What is you body mass index ? >Almost immediately I began feeling " down " . I couldn't >get to sleep >and the sleep I had was more restless. For the You dropped your caloric intake too rapdly and didn't even count the calories !!! >last three years, while eating what would be considered >a horrendous >diet with lots of saturated fat and simple sugars and >calories. I What crime!!! Why didn't you have returned to the diet you had before ? >this " healthier " way of eating, my immune system goes >down and boom, >sick for the first time in three years. VERY >FRUSTRATING ! I know Yes... I agree! Too much stress = Lower imune function. Healthy diet you were eating = Higher imune function. You should consider to continue to eat your ad-libitum healthy diet and add exercises to your day. Next drop down calories * a little *, continue to exercise until your BMI reaches 17.5 next increases calories. You should feel energized, not depressed. You should not sleep because of " high energy " not because of high depression. Going by feel is not a bad idea for who is beginning.
