How about that old Norman Peale classic " The Power of Positive

Thinking? "

I share your concerns, however I feel that

unlike rodents/dogs under CR, we as humans have *CONTROL* over how and what we eat, thus at least in this

respect we are much less stressful than the non-human CRONies. That said…

we are humans, and have other tendencies to be too stressful…

Subject: [ ] CR'd

Personality and Longevity

How does personality

influence longevity? Is it possible that the suppression of our urges,

cravings and natural appetites could so stress us emotionally that we lose the

benefits of CR as seen in lesser mammals? Of course we all probably jump

on this question with a resounding, " I'm not stressed by my

CR! " But hear me out, please.

I certainly know how my

dog's personality is affected by my restricting HIS calories, but I also know that

this personality change will not shorten his life. He's just a DOG.

Given the presumably more complex psychology of humans over dogs (and certainly

over rodents) the question intrigues me. If CR makes us cranky,

agressive, reclusive and/or pessimistic, could these personality changes undo

the positive benefits of CR?

If you feel stressed = you eat, you decrease your LS.

I don't think so. To see if the thing is working

you should monitor your body, your health and your

feelings. If you engage in a friendly lifestyle with

little stress, then you will forget about food and

probably ingest fewer calories.

I've been monitoring my mother without her knoledge

and:

In days of little stress she ingests something

arround 1300 kcal. In days of " higer " stress she ingests

2500 kcal but not more than that. She is 50 years old

and her parameters are good 120 pounds and 5'6''.

>But hear me out, please.

I hear you :)

>the question intrigues me.

Me too. Dogs and rodents doen't have to stand

social pressures and boring people. But in a CR

diet you tolerance to stress should increase. I know it

by myself. Jeanne Calment have said that she was

" afraid of nothing " . It's how you should feel anyway :)

Not! You should use the energy CR gives to you to

the good, not to the evil. I'm now working on my

doctoring (that has to do with automata celular and

modeling of the aging process). I will spend the

whole nigth in it, and not spending time fighting with

my father or things like that. You should be agressive

because CR is dopaminergic, but use the energy of you

brain to the good.

>bitchy

WOW!! Funny to hear it :)) I sometimes catch myself

nervous, but not so nervous ...

(please... This is a little joke, don't be

nervous !!! :))))

Cheers

Gandhi.
