And are microwaves > considered bad for warming or cooking say a sweet potato? FWIW, I have mixed feelings about organic produce. On the one hand I don't want to eat pesticides and herbicides. On the other, I feel it is a bit of a luddite movement - which is likely to hamper progress in food technology. Microwave ovens don't seem much worse than other cooking methods to me. I tend to microwave fish for example. However not everyone is completely trusting of microwaves. For example, here is a sceptical article: http://www.nexusmagazine.com/microwave.html
Guest guest
On page 275 of " Beyond " Walford says true organic food is better if you can get it (because of pesticides) however, most of what is labled organic is not organic. BTW you can get almost all pesticides off by washing with soap and water then rinsing with plain water, or washing with a mixture of vinegar and water. As for microwaves, Walford recommends them as a great timesaver. on 9/26/2002 11:30 PM, birdsrfun@... at birdsrfun@... wrote: > I am wondering what the take is on organic food and the use of microwaves. Guest guest
>However not everyone is completely >trusting of microwaves.... When microwave ovens first came on the market in the US, Prevention Magazine was steadfastly against them, claiming that they were outlawed in all European countries, and were unsafe. Later, though, when almost everyone had one, Prevention went with the mainstream and changed its position. Dot

I stopped reading it when i got to the bit about microwaves from the sun. I have better things to do with my time. I suspect it is just another instance of someone taking advantage of the ignorance of most people on scientific issues to further their own agenda by scaremongering. It's the same as mobile phone scares, overhead power lines, etc., etc. BEN
