Guest guest
How does personality influence longevity? Is it possible that the suppression of our urges, cravings and natural appetites could so stress us emotionally that we lose the benefits of CR as seen in lesser mammals? Of course we all probably jump on this question with a resounding, "I'm not stressed by my CR!" But hear me out, please. I certainly know how my dog's personality is affected by my restricting HIS calories, but I also know that this personality change will not shorten his life. He's just a DOG. Given the presumably more complex psychology of humans over dogs (and certainly over rodents) the question intrigues me. If CR makes us cranky, agressive, reclusive and/or pessimistic, could these personality changes undo the positive benefits of CR? (
