Guest guest
In the last month or so, we've been priviledged to increase our membership by many. Newbies, please post with any questions or just to introduce yourself. We're delighted to have you join us and we roll out the welcome mat. Also, newbies or lurkers sometimes e-mail me off-list to answer their questions. There are several reasons why it's beneficial to ask and have your questions answered, on the board. 1. First of all, I'm only " one mouse " and any answers I give you may not be the full picture. If you ask on the list, you can get a better idea of things if several people respond to your question (s). 2. If you have questions, you can bet others have similar questions. So your question is probably important and should be asked. 3. It's of benefit to all to actively participate on the list and not just lurk. Lurkers get the benefit of the information (freely given by others) and by not wishing to " go public " , don't give back to the forum. So think of it as " a win-win " situation if you post to the board. And think of it as lending a helping hand to others and thanking the list for helping you. 4. There is no need to be fearful of posting here. Nobody has ever been treated rudely on this list. If you're fearful of posting, because you've been treated badly elsewhere, that does not apply here. I started CR when I saw the cover article in the Wall St Journal with Dean P (June 3). I've lost about 35 pounds since which isn't too unusual - normally I drop 20 pounds during the summer as I increase my mileage running. I'm 6' 1/2 " and weigh 158 pounds now (BMI 21) and am still running 30 miles a week. I'm probably getting around 1,800 calories a day but with my weight loss, it doesn't seem necessary to count calories. I have Total with skim milk, wheat germ, a banana and juice for breakfast, 500 calories of trail mix and a fruit for lunch and a Healthy Choice/extra veggies type combo or fish, brown rice and veggies for dinner with 100 calories of dried fruit between meals. There's probably a lot I can do to improve my nutrition - I'm not sure that 'Total' is all it's cracked up to be, but here again, I might want to be adding calories, too. The trail mix and fruit may be a dangerous combo as a veteran poster pointed out a while ago but I usually catnap after lunch and wake up feeling fine. Guest guest
Hi WT (first name? ) :sounds like you have the CR part of CRON down pat. Your weight's pretty low. If you're still losing, try to lose a bit slower. The slower the better for your health. Interesting that you eat Total. We have an extensive thread on that subject. I was a Total cereal eater myself until member Benson analyzed the ingredients for me in this post: /message/3991 I still eat it but have cut way back. In fact often, I have a " lunch " for breakfast as I related in a recent post. Keep us posted on your progess and/or any questions we can help with. on 10/4/2002 8:14 PM, WTHarvey at wtharvey.geo@... wrote: > I have Total with skim milk, wheat germ, a banana and juice for > breakfast, 500 calories of trail mix and a fruit for lunch and a > Healthy Choice/extra veggies type combo or fish, brown rice and > veggies for dinner with 100 calories of dried fruit between meals. > There's probably a lot I can do to improve my nutrition - I'm not > sure that 'Total' is all it's cracked up to be,
Guest guest
Welcome, It's a good idea to look at your diet in one of the several software packages to analyze nutrients. At 1800 Kcal and 30 miles per week you will lose more weight. Some might suggest that 30 miles per week (4,000 kCal) is too much, but that all depends on how it plays into your quality of life and your goals. From observation your diet looks high on fruit and low on vegetables and perhaps essential fatty acids... but I'm just guessing, run the numbers... re: your list of presidents was that Sr? Jr. runs a decent 10k.
