Guest guest
Hi All, I love my popcorn. I go through my 50-pound bags and lately got 300 pounds. I find they are the cheapest, tastiest and largest puffing ones in the hot air popper. It is Pop Weaver Gourmet Popping Corn made from Indiana. They are yellow hybrid kernels. The yellow I have read is best for goodies in the corn, although some like the white variety. Yellow I find tastier too. The below looked at some kinds and their effects, and type, variety and moisture matter. I love the large fluffy popcorn, but after I get to the bottom of the bag, it gets less so. It seems they seal the bags well, because it is very good when I start a new bag. Cheers, Al. Title: Effects of moisture content, hybrid variety, kernel size, and microwave wattage on the expansion volume of microwave popcorn Author(s): Tracey Anne Allred-Coyle; Ramses B. Toma; Reiboldt; Mani hakur Source: International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition 51, p389 -- p394 “Abstract: This study investigated several independent variables affecting the expansion volume of microwave popcorn; (a) different hybrids were used, ( hybrids were popped at different moisture contents, © microwave ovens with various wattages were employed, and (d) kernels were separated by size. The greatest expansion volume was achieved with Hunt-Wesson 214 at 11% moisture. Overall, the large-capacity bag and the 1000-watt microwave oven produced the greatest expansion volume. Medium-sized kernels produced the greatest expansion volume.” Alan Pater, Ph.D.; Faculty of Medicine; Memorial University; St. 's, NF A1B 3V6 Canada; Tel. Guest guest
Al: This playful side of you is rarely seen. It gave me a nice chuckle. Thanks for the insights into popcorn (a filling snack which can help assuage hunger) and insights into the fun part of your persona. Hi All, I love my popcorn.
