Guest guest
Funny you guys should bring this up. That is EXACTLY my current strategy with my husband who is (I'm almost embarressed to say) overweight. He's a former marathon runner who has let himself go and though I give him the healthiest food possible at home, I have little control over what he eats at work. But now he's trying to buckle down. He WAS about 30 pds overweight, has lost about 9 in the last 6 weeks and is again running. In order to keep him on his new program, I am cooking an occasional (like once a week) " treat " (pasta for example) so he won't feel deprived. I truly believe this is key for him; he was " sneaking " chips, big Macs, or whatever he could because he resented my feeding him all that wholesome food at home. I think the answer is some waywardness now and then, so as not to feel deprived. FWIW, when I'm out at a special occasion (a wedding for example) , I relax, enjoy myself and eat, drink and make merry. I can't eat too much anymore at one sitting though (a good thing I think) without feeling very uncomfortable.
