Guest guest
I was wondering about the effects of occasional jarring impacts caused by falls on long-term bone and joint health. I do a lot of in-line skating, and of course i occasionally fall. These falls are rarely anything more than a tumble while going fairly slowly, so i get no more than the occasional bruise or scrape, but i wondered if any studies had been done on people who for various reasons have a higher than normal incidence of non-serious falls (because of occupation, sports, etc), and whether these might have a bone-strengthening effect that shows up in later life (decreased bone loss, less breakages, etc). Anyone have any opinions/info on this? (I'd love to be able to believe that my favourite pastime is also contributing to my long-term survival prospects, but i'm also open to the suggestion that it's just wishful thinking!)
