Guest guest
Does anyone here use just the soy protein powder? How much do you use? I am experimenting with the powder and tofu in making shakes, and want to get my protein allottment. Pam.
Guest guest
Yes, I know there is some CRON controversy over soy consumption. I'm not addressing that here. For those who wish to consume it, there is a soy protein powder that is being promoted (disclaimer - I have no affiliation with the company) largely for post-menopausal women, but which is just basically a soy protein isolate. Their website also sites published studies on the benefits of soy. Of course they've got an interest in promoting it, but there's a fairly extensive list of peer-reviewed publications in a variety of mainstream journals. It comes in a variety of forms (meal replacement bars, shake powder) and the powder can be had in flavored (chocolate, vanilla), unflavored (plain), sweetened, unsweetened, etc. forms, and unless I'm mis-reading the info, is a vegan product. It's also got 500mg of calcium. For example, the chocolate comes as fructose/sucrose sweetened (higher calorie), aspartame sweetened, and unsweetened, and the unsweetened and aspartame versions have the same calorie count. Both of the flavors are slightly highter in total calories than the plain. All of the shake powders are the same price. Since I buy the plain and add it to smoothie-type concoctions, I think that's a rip. <g> My fastest morning-dash approach is to mix it with orange juice or tomato juice, so the calorie count probably ends up about the same as their sweetened version, if you don't count the ground flax seed I also put in. Their website says it will soon be available in a sucralose sweetened version, which I'll try when it is available, particularly to knock the calorie count down from what I'm currently doing. Currently, it is only available directly from the company, either as single-order, or scheduled shipment. http://www.revivalsoy.com/index.html Iris
