Guest guest
Tough question! From a CRON perspective, others will have to respond, but from a weightlifting perspective, I can only tell you that Todd Swinney a well respected nutritionist to national bodybuilders, commonly puts his clients on 7% (of caloric intake) fat consumption allowance. He also recommends the use of Evening Primrose Oil to clients who are being very strict with fat intake. Mind you, bodybuilders often consume in excess of 4000 calories per day (some up to 7000) so 7% is certainly adequate to those calorie levels. I too am interested to hear what members think about Essential Fatty Acid requirements from a CRON perspective. Guest guest
Jammer: Walford says on pg 115 of " Beyond " : Somewhere between a low of 8% to a high of 20%. Fish is the best source. On pg 279: In general the lower the fat content the better, although a minimum essential amt is required. An intake of about 20 to 25% of total calories seems comfortable as to beneficial effects and taste. (Slight difference there between the two quotes in the book). on 9/17/2002 12:40 PM, ran7972002 at Jammer7@... wrote: > I now know the what the healthy type of fats are but how much. Guest guest
I eat 30% out of 2000 cals from fat, mostly from low Omega-6 nuts. I'm 5'10", 172# and lift heavy. In fact, I just shoulder pressed two 100 pound dumbbells :-) I also eat 35% protein.
