What is a mercury lamp? Never heard of it??

I was just talking to my husband and a co-worker was telling him today about his

friend's daughter who is low functioning autistic. They have been using some

sort of lamp which makes the mercury convert to a gas that leaves the through

the skin?? This is third hand so the details may be off. They say she is

nearly recovered now. I told my husband that seems crazy and asked what all

they are doing...this just seems to weird to work. He is going to get their

number tomorrow and he wants me to call anyway. He isn't one to jump on any

bandwagon and he defers to me on everything health related. His friend has a

wife who is in her 50's and is early onset alzheimers. She is the one I want to

talk to.

I just had to ask and see if any of you knew what in the world this is. It is

supposed to be some Russian invention to help coal miners there. Sounds too

weird for me but curiosity got the best of me.
