I don't really know, but I'm guessing - detox. Keep giving antioxidants and stuff to help him take those toxins out of his body. If you want to give a lot of vitamin C and you're worried that is too acidic, try sodium ascorbate. I would be careful with baking soda when there's food in his stomach. Baking soda will make his stomach so alkaline, it won't be able to process the food well anymore.
