I found the report on TV last night very interesting along with the evidence that this type of eating plan helps prolong life and prevent disease. I had heard some things about that before but never in such detail. I have to admit though that while I thought the wife looked okay, I thought the husband who was eating this way looked terrible. He looked so emaciated. Is that typical or is he taking it to the extreme? I have a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). I was wondering if any of the other women on the list have this and how the way of eating might have affected them. In general how does this way of eating affect female hormone levels and menstrual cycles? The newest research suggests women with my condition should follow a low carb diet and need a higher intake of protein. Does anyone follow this way if eating and modify it to have a bit more protein and good fat and less carbs? I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years and up until my late 20's early 30's I could eat pretty much anything and not gain an ounce (I'm 41 now). I was lucky. Most women with PCOS are very overweight their whole life. Now carbs seem to affect me to the extreme. I'm about 30-40 pounds over what weighed in my 20's (I'm 5'2") but I think now that I'm older being around 25 pounds less than I am now would be a healthy weight for me. Lastly, can anyone give some reviews of the various software programs recommended in the files section? I think I'll skip the one that cost money. How about the free ones? Which is the most user friendly and the most useful for keeping track of the nutrients and such for attempting to eat this way?
