Guest guest
> I saw this story on my local news. The pills being prescribed are > Phenermean and Phendra-Metrasine (not related to the notorious Phen- Phen > which has been proven unsafe and is off the market). What do you guys > (especially the MD's on the list) think of these medications? > > http://www.wjla.com/news/showstory.hrb?f=n & s=51344 & f1=hea The " Phenermean " mentioned is almost definitely phentermine, the " phen " portion of " fen-phen. " The " fen " part, fenfluramine, was the one taken off the market for possibly causing heart valve problems. I have no idea what the " phendra-metrasine " is, but it is probably also a stimulant anorectic drug. Stimulants are effective at reducing appetite and increasing metabolism but should probably only be used by the most obese subjects and only for short periods of time. They have many side effects such as hypertension, tachycardia (increased heart rate), and insomnia. Definitely not something for a CRONie to use to reduce appetite.
