I'm new here. What is the CR diet?

Hi Neil and welcome,

Simply put, CR or CRON (Calorie Restriction with Optimal Nutrition, "is about reducing calories and eating healthy" for the purpose of extending one's lifespan. You might like to start learning about CR by reading "Beyond the 120 Year Diet" by Dr. Roy Walford. It's a wonderful book and is very worth owning, but if you'd like to get the gist of it first, try www.walford.com. If you already have the diet and nutrition awareness to be reading Dr. Weil, and if you are beginning at an average or "normal" bodyweight (whatever that means), you are probably already on your way to a good CRON program. Dr. Walford's website gives a good summary of the research that leads us to believe we can extend our lifespans by reducing calories. I'm sure you'll have a hundred specific questions after you read that, and whether you choose to read his book or not, we can certainly help you get started.
