Guest guest
Do you eat them plain? Doesn't sound too appealing. -----Original Message----- From: Francesca Skelton [mailto:fskelton@...] Sent: Monday, September 09, 2002 2:04 PM support group Subject: [ ] Another tip for satiety - Shiitakes Another very filling and satisfying food are the dried shiitakes I buy in the Chinese market. After soaking in water, and they become soft and in an edible state, I find these to be very " meaty " and filling. Shiitakes also have lots of health benefits as well; they contain lentinan (a cancer fighting substance) and a form of Vit D (one of only a few veggies that contain D) To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: -unsubscribeegroups Your use of is subject to the Terms of Service. Guest guest
Dennis (in his usual very verbose style :-))) wants to know how I eat my shiitakes. In this instance, today, I put them into my Sweet and Sour Cabbage Soup recipe (in the files). I try to put the shiitakes into " wet " type recipes where they plump up in the cooking of the dish. This saves a step or two. I put them in soups, stews, tomato sauces, and the like. Same with sheets of dried nori (seaweed), another very nutritious food, also highly recommended by Walford. on 9/9/2002 5:35 PM, Dennis Foley at dfoley@... wrote: > Do you eat them plain? Guest guest
That sounds a whole lot better.
