There's a new one - edamame. What the heck is that? Also, I don't remember

seeing it on the Variety Checklist.

What?! You never had edamame?! You don't know what you are missing! Edamame is a full soybean pod with beans intact. Boil slightly, add olive oil, garlic and sea salt...serve at room temperature. You suck the soybeans out of the pods (don't make the mistake of trying to eat the pods ~ great source of fiber but it is like eating nylon rope). These are a delicious and healthy (except for the oil and salt but hey..) snack. You can buy the pods frozen at Whole Foods and other health food stores or try them as an appetizer at your favorite sushi restaurant! Dave

Oh sorry...that's the cute little bean (looks just like a lima bean) that grows inside the soybean pod. Another great thing to look for at Trader Joe's. They have them frozen and sometimes in their fresh produce, too.
