DWIDP software compared to DietPower, NutriBase

Hello List,

A few days ago I ordered DWIDP,* selecting it instead of DietPower** partly for

emotional reasons, in that I personally like the less showy appearance of DWIDP

on the screen; partly because I need nutrient information but don't need a

program that manages weight loss for me; and partly from a desire to show

appreciation for Dr. Walford by giving him my business.

I had read Dave Noel's report of slow tech support provided for DWIDP, but I

figured that because of all the years of DWIDP expertise to be found among CR

list members, I'd have little need to go to the company for help.

It's heartening, now that I've chosen, to read Dave's analysis (reproduced

below) saying DWIDP has some features that DietPower doesn't.

From list members' reports and from the NutriBase*** Web site, I understand

NutriBase Clinical is the best software of all. While it's priced too high for

my current budget, I expect to get it later. It gives an amazingly complete

fatty acid breakdown (the less expensive editions of NutriBase omit this).

First, the nutrient search feature is fantastic. If you are short on calcium

and zinc ( why is that?), you can search for foods low in calories or fat and

high in zinc for example. That is very useful.

Also, you can see the nutritional value of a food from the daily food input

screen, before you put it in ...or decide to eat it. In DietPower you have to

look the food up in the dictionary and then go to the food input...not a huge

deal but DWIDP does have those advantages....
