Fransesca stated:

Are we more likely to get people to listen if they see us as a bunch

of

extremists (i.e. six feet tall, weighing 115 pds as one cronie was

recently

described in the news)?

Or are we more likely to get people pay attention if we are more

moderate

(and as Walford has said) that even the smallest changes matter (for

example

just changing WHAT you eat even without a calorie reduction).

I vote that the latter matters a lot, especially since changing WHAT

you eat

will most certainly lead to better health and inevitably to a

reduction in

calories anyway. And no matter how small the change, it's whatever

that

person can muster, and should be encouraged.

I agree 100%. I have been practicing basic CRON priciples for two

years now and have yet to run my food selections through DWIIP or

weigh a portion. I have no forbidden food, and when in Rome I eat as

the Romans do. I eat potato chips/dips, brownies laced with powdered

sugar, pork bar BQ and other such nasties if the mood hits me. When

I go out to eat I select whatever I want and I don't feel guility for

choosing a menu item that would be considered unhealthy and taboo by

the strict 30% adherents.

However, I have lost 35 pounds, have great lab values, ran a very

strong Marathon this past spring and have not been ill, except for

one 24 hour virus, in the two years I have been croning. So what am

I doing correctly?

I weigh myself every morning and if I gain weight I then make some

adjustments in my calorie consumption until my weight returns to it's

pre-binge number. Warren, Dean and others have introduced me to

sucralose, kefir, sprouts, guar, etc. and I have made many of

Walford's recepies as well as many others Francesca has listed in the

archives here. I do not obsess over every mouthfull of food I put in

my mouth and most of all I refuse to beat myself up when I

overindulge. I simply move on to another day. For me CRON is just

one component of a healthy lifestyele approach to life. If I live

longer great. If I don't at least I will have some good quality

years ahead of me due to the benefits of healthy eating.
