MM: thanks for this info. Nice to have an alternative. I did a search on

Xylitol and it seems to be safe. See

However for us fusspots it does have some calories (1/3 the calories of

sugar). Also from my limited search I couldn't find anything on your

mention below of improvement of bone density. Do you have any references

for that ? For those of us with osteopenia, it may be worth switching for

that alone.

Hi Francesca,

Xylitol has about 1/3 less calories than sugar (or 2/3 the calories of

sugar) or 2.4 Kcal/g or about 68 Kcal/oz
