Guest guest
A continual response that I get from people is that many who want to practice CR want to jump down to 1000 calories a day immediately. I personally feel that this is far to drastic and you are just setting yourself up for relapse. After two or three attempts you'll give up just because you will think its impossible. Behavior changes that occur very slowly are so much better. I started my CR program at 2500 calories a day. I used my software and measured out all the foods I planned to eat. I sent out my food plan to another person via email. This change was difficult enough as I had to ESTABLISH routines. After I ate my 2500 calorie level for 30 days, I dropped down to 2450 calories a day, and after more time I dropped to 2350 calories. 100 calorie a day change is barely noticeable over a 30 day period. You never notice a temperature change between 79 and 80 degrees, but go from 80 to 60 degrees and things are really noticeable. The same with CR. Before long, I was at 2100 calories a day with a 40 pound weight loss. I've really slowed things up as to keep the weight loss continuing, but at a rate that in which it is barely perceptible. I haven't heard a person yet that rushed into CR weight loss who wished they hadn't taken their time. So what's the rush? CR is supposed to be for the rest of your very long life, so what's the problem with going slow. Two slogans that I think are important to behavior changes are: 1. Everything is hard until you learn it and then it becomes easy. 2. Slow and steady wins the race. Mike Bell
Guest guest
And, to paraphrase Mark Twain: A bad habit cannot be thrown out the second story window to be done with it. It must be coaxed down the stairs one at a time very patiently. Thanks for the reminder Mike. - Ruth P. From: MBellKC135@...
