Since I've am posting (which I don't do often) I did have another thing to share. Here is something I found that works well in prolonging vegetable freshness.

Proven science has demonstrated in commercially operated environments that by neutralizing the ethylene gas released by fruits and vegetables, that days can be added to the life of produce.

A product called "ExtraLife" has an active ingredient that neutralizes the ethylene gas. It kind of looks like a room freshener. I've gone as far to place it in my sealed salad container and have been quiet surprised by what it has been able to due. After 90 days you just replace it with another. I think it cost 2.95.
