Most diet drinks use Aspartame now. Diet Rite, a widely sold diet

drink, does not use Aspartame, but it does use Sucralose.

Additionally, it does not have any sodium in most of its flavors,

which would normally be a plus in most people's diet but for a CRONie

it may be a minus in that if you drink too much of it you could send

you blood sodium a little low.

Some diet drinks use acesulfame, particularly the more " citrusy " ones.

This sweetener has a " bite " to its aftertaste, and is therefore more

suited to these types of drinks. Examples of drinks that use this

sweetener are Diet 7-up and Diet Sprite, I believe.

If you ever run into a product called " FruitWater " made by Glacieu, it

uses Sucralose as well.

Hi crdude and All,

Even normal sodas have about 16 mg sodium/100 ml.

It makes no difference.Cheers, Al.

Gatorade's new Propel Fitness Water uses sucralose as well. Inexplicably,

they also added a little sucrose to it as well -- only about 10 calories per

8 oz, though. I just don't see what the sucrose adds to it. It's pretty

good, though, and fortified with a number of vitamins. Here are the

ingredients:

Purified Water, Sucrose Syrup, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Sodium Citrate,

Potassium Citrate, Sucralose, Vitamin C, Vitamin E Acetate, Niacinamide

(Vitamin B3), Calcium Disodium EDTA, Calcium Pantothenate (Vitamin B5),

Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Acesulfame Potassium, Vitamin B12.
