Guest guest
I hear about LDN from another medical message board and found my way here. I suffer from Fibromyalgia, Degenerative Disc Disease, TMJ, and DISH among many other problems. Pain is a constant, but opiods make me crazy so I can't and won't take them!!! But I need relief! Is there a blood test that I need to ask my doctor for in order to find out if this is what I should be taking? Should I get a referral to an endrochronologist (sp?) and ask that dr to give me a prescription? This is all new to me, I've been to the web site and read about it, but at this point I don't know what questions to really ask. Could it really be possible for LDN to at least ease my pain slightly? Guest guest
Welcome Pamela Glad you have found us. Lots of us have thrown the pred bottle away and can breathe much better after being on Xolair. Yes, we have been in your shoes and are glad to help in any way we can. I have a question for you. You mentioned: (providing my husband's insurance company will cover it.) I thought that medical care was free in Canada? Is it that they won't pay for a drug so expensive? Some of us have had hassles with our insurance but most have won the fight. My insurance plan pays regular medical claims through Blue Cross and Blue Shield but pays prescriptions through Medco Health. I pay 1000.00 a month for my premiums but being on Xolair costs so much, that I recoup that expense. I also pay a 30.00 a month copay for 4 injections. I am truly blessed Welcome aboard Doug Group founder and co moderator
Guest guest
Hi Doug Yes....medical care is free in Canada....we can go to the hospitals for free (depending on which province you are in...in some provinces you have to pay a minimal monthly healcare cost). If you are lucky enough to have a doctor, it is also free to go see them. Prescriptions must be paid for by the individuals. If you are over the age of 65, there is a plan where you pay anywhere from 2.00 - 11.00 a prescription, depending on you finanical situation. My husband takes care of the computer networks for our local Catholic school board, and he has wonderful benefit package that costs about 75.00/month for our family of 4 including dental/prescriptions/vision etc. My respirologist would have to apply to our Insurance Company to see if they will cover it. I will be surprised as they are giving me the go around about a crown on a tooth that is broken!!!! I was originally leery of Xolair, not having heard any patient testimonials, but from the little bit I have read on this site, it sounds like a good thing! bye for now Pamela in Canada > > Welcome Pamela > > Glad you have found us.
