Guest guest
Thank you to Mr. Harding for his extensive explanation of how LDN can help MS patients. I wonder if anyone here knows whether a person who has already tried immunosuppressive treatments of chemotherapy as well as steroids can also benefit from LDN? Further, I would like to know...if a person's symptoms are currently being helped somewhat by steroids, and the person discontinues steroid treatment (as I would suspect is best when using LDN), how will one then address the symptoms while on the LDN? Would histamine be the way to go? I've read about histamine relieving symptoms here on this list, but if a patient is really suffering with significant symptoms and significant progression, will histamine still likely help with those symptoms, or is histamine really something for earlier stage MS symptoms? Thank you very much for any light anyone can shed on these questions. J...
Guest guest
Again I don't want to represent the science behind this but I am willing to share what I know. I think the best advice is to contact a Dr. who is using LDN for their patients and ask them. I just talked to the researcher on LDN and he is rather opinionated that steroids and chemotherapy is barking up the wrong tree. Again, I don't want to speak for him, but that was my impression. Dr.s who prescribe immunosuppresants do so because they believe they will work. They may indeed work, and if they are working, I'd be less prone to stop using them w/o a Dr. telling me to do so. Having said that, I think that Dr.s, like us, are overwhelmed with information and may not be able to " hear " the 20 year history of LDN... seems amazing to me, but that's why I'm going to see for myself. I have heard lots of bad reports about chemo and steroids, so I have chosen to avoid them for now anyway. For people on them, consult with your doctor and see what they recommend. If you're not getting a good response from that doctor, find a new one who might be more apt to consider althernative therapies. LDN is def. alternative but I believe effective for MS and certain types of cancer. I'm putting my money on some anecdotal reports where LDN seems to work effectively. I believe clinical trials have not been done using LDN cause there is no money to be made at $30/month and hence who'd fund the research? Maybe some patients out there have tried LDN while being on immunosuppresants and would be willing to report on their experience.
