Guest guest
It is my understanding (opinion) that one should start at 4.5 mg. Reduced to 3 mg or sometimes slightly lower if side affects are bad but best to return to 4.5 as soon as the body will tolerate it. I have heard of people that take higher dosages, 6 mg or even 7 mg. I suspect that 4.5 is the best level for most people. I also get the impression that body weight is not directly related to dosage level as it is with many drugs. These are my own possibly misguided understandings and opinions. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marie Deady low dose naltrexone Sent: Thursday, June 12, 2003 7:40 PM Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Dosage Does anyone know anything about the LDN dosage? Would you get the same results on any dosage? And would you still stop the progression of the disease on even a low dose like say 2mg? I figure that if you are on a lower dosage that it may take longer to see results but would you eventually see the results? Hoping that someone might have the answers to these questions. Guest guest
Hi Marie I think 2mg would be ok - he's a direct quote from www.low dose naltrexone.org : The therapeutic dosage range for LDN is from 1.75mg to 4.5mg every night. Dosages below this range are likely to have no effect at all, and dosages above this range are likely to block endorphins for too long a period of time and interfere with its effectiveness. Under the "What dosage and frequency should my physician prescribe?". I suppose the key here is that you take enough to block the opioid receptors for long enough to cause a up regulation of endorphins. Hope that helps, and good luck. Matt. -----Original Message-----From: Marie Deady [mailto:Mardea@...]Sent: 13 June 2003 00:41low dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Dosage Does anyone know anything about the LDN dosage? Guest guest
GREAT MARIE....I AM SO GLAD THAT YOU FOUND THE CORRECT DOSAGE FOR YOU. I AM ON 3MG NOW AND DOING OK....NO SIDE EFFECTS SO FAR....SO I WILL STAY HERE FOR NOW, AND MAY INCREASE LATER, IF I FEEL THE NEED. HOW DO YOU KEEP CHANGING? DO YOU MIX YOUR OWN? HUGS, SALLY > Hi Everyone, > Just thought that I would share something with you. I started on 4.5 mg of LDN 3 1/2 weeks ago. For two days I felt shaky and had increased spasticity. so I went down to 3mg. After a couple of weeks I tried to get myself up to 4.5 again. By last Saturday I was up to about 4mg to 4.25 mg. Then I started to feel extremely tired. Like I haven't felt in years. When I would wake up in the morning I felt just as tired. Anyway I decided to go back to 3.75mg like the dose that I was on before I got tired. The first day I felt good again. That was yesterday. Today I am also fine and full of energy again. I think that everybody's body has a dose that works for them. I think that mine is 3.75. I think that everyone needs to find theirs. > Just thought that i would tell you this in case someone else is having problems. > Marie
Guest guest
Dr. Bihari starts you off at 4.5mg and tells you to open the capsule (if you are having problems) and dump out 1/3 of the capsule. that is approximately 3mg. I did that and then I was gradually trying to get back to the 4.5mg. But only got part of the way when I started to have problems again. I am going to stay at the dosage that I am on now. It seems to work the best for me. I would say it is about 3.75 to 4.mg. Everyone is different and everyones body tolerates LDN differently. If the 4.5mg works for you just stay there. Wishing you a lot of luck with this. I have MS. My prescription is for 4.5 mg. I noticed that many of you have had problems with the full dosage. Should I be starting at a smaller dosage? Guest guest
Hi -- (I've been taking LDN for the past 6 months--4.5 mg per night--for Nonhodgkins Lymphoma) I have never had leg cramps from it. In fact, I don't seem to have any side effects other than (possibly) more vivid dreams. Regards and best of health to all of you-- S. Guest guest
I started on 4.5 mg and Dr. Bihari told me that if I needed to go down to 3mg, to just open the capsule and pour 1/3 of it out. that will bring you to 3 mg. Now I am higher than 3mg. I figure that I am about 3.75mg or 4mg Marie ----- Original Message ----- From: " CK Connie King (1452) " <Connie.King@...> " 'Marie Deady ' " <Mardea@...>; <low dose naltrexone > Sent: Tuesday, July 08, 2003 5:50 PM Subject: RE: [low dose naltrexone] Dosage > > How do you adjust your dose? > -----Original Message----- > From: Marie Deady > low dose naltrexone > Sent: 7/2/03 4:54 PM > Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Dosage > > Hi Everyone, > Just thought that I would share something with you. Guest guest
I started on 3 and am moving up to 4.5 (the " ideal dosage " according to Bihari). I'd say try 4.5mg and if problematic, back down to 3. On Sat, 5 Jul 2003 szaffa1@... wrote: > Hi, I'm starting LDN for the first time. I have MS. My prescription is for > 4.5 mg.
