Guest guest
I was taking Fish Oil and Coral Calcium before I started LDN. But when I started LDN I stopped. I want to see if this thing works all by itself, and whatever happens, I don't want to question if it was from the combination or maybe even something else. I still take them every so often, here and there, but for the most part, the only thing I'm doing the same DAILY is drinking water and LDN. Everything else I vary. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marie Deady low dose naltrexone Sent: Sunday, June 29, 2003 06:58 Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Vit D Hi Is anyone on coral calcium and cod liver oil? I take coral calcium and that has 800 iu of Vit D. I would like to take cod liver oil because I hear that people with MS need cod liver oil. Also I am on the Swank diet and think that I need the cod liver oil. But cod liver oil also has vitamin D in it. I know the higher forms of vit. D can be toxic. Does anyone out there know of a type of cod liver oil without Vit D in it? Or are there any other solutions that you can tell me about.? I'd appreciate any help with this Marie
Guest guest
I take calcium, magnasium and zinc along with vitimum B12 (B complex with a hight B12 component) to help the bocy heal my nervers. The LDN stops the MS progression. I also take cod liver oil, MSN vitimum C and asprin. My nuro agreed that I should have an MRI in November. There should be some hard evidence as to how the MS is progressing. Before going on LDN I had noticed increased progression (Copaxone is usless) without having any relapses. Things are now getting better not worse! I have noticed a decreas in the inical muscle stiffness, at least some of which preceded the LDN (it is also a side affect of Copaxone, along with weakness). ----- Original Message ----- From: LarryGC LDN group Sent: Sunday, June 29, 2003 2:52 PM Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] Vit D I was taking Fish Oil and Coral Calcium before I started LDN. It is best taken as D3 ( cholecalciferol) since the body uses this for better than other forms. I quote from the Journal of Nutritional & Environmental Medicine (2001) 11, 237– 239. " Textbooks still assume that ergocalciferol, vitamin D2, manufactured by yeast organisms, is equivalent to cholecalciferol, D3, the human physiological form. But the evidence currently available indicates that it has about 25% of the potency of D3 in humans. " D3 is safe up to 2000 mg a day (from people except a few with a super hypersensitivity to Vitamin D who then may form high levels of Calcium). I quote from research established by the Institute of Medicine, Food and Nutrition Board. Dietary Reference Intakes: Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Vitamin D, and Fluoride. Washington, DC: National Academy Press, 1997: pages 250-287 " Because the consequences of vitamin D toxicity are severe, the Food and Nutrition Board (FNB) of the Institute of Medicine set the tolerable upper level of intake (UL) for vitamin D at 2000 IU/day (50 mcg/day) for adults, five times lower than the dose generally observed to cause hypervitaminosis D in healthy individuals. " Cod liver oil in high doses is not recommended because of excessive Vitamin A. This site may be interesting regarding MS and Vitamin D (one of many MS theories) Beware- it is very wordy: http://www.direct-ms.org/vitamind.html Hope this helps.
