I had posted these questions several days ago...I think it may have

been overlooked and this is why I received no response--BTW this post

did not go to directly but to the entire list. I welcome any

input from anyone who can offer suggestions. Thanks again for taking

the time to read my post. You may reply privately or directly to the

Here is my story/dilemma:

I switched my son from Enzymedica's Digest Gold (started use in Dec

03)to Houston Enzymes on July 10, 04. I decided to try these to see

if they would help my son with his speech and some minor stims/ocd

behaviors that come and go. He is 4 yrs old, ASD-HFA and severe

Apraxia of Speech. He communicates very well via some signs and

verbal approximations, single requests. Well, I started with Zyme-

Prime 1/2 cap 3x per day and in a week went up to 1 cap 3x per day.

Results: More stimming and less inteligible in speech, BUT now he is

spelling words on his own (which he always did before--Hyperlexic)

that are more complex 5-6 letter words while still a happy little

guy. Then I added Peptizyde at 1/4 cap 3x per day for about 10 days

and he started having meltdowns (which we had not seen for a long

time),some screaming, rigidity and a few OCD-like behaviors. So, I got

scared and stopped the Peptizyde, but continued with the Zyme-Prime.

These are all SCD versions. My son has been fully SCD since

March '03.

I was just trying to decide whether I should continue on the Houston

Enzymes or not. I was planning on going back to the Digest Gold and

just adding No-Fenol to the mix to see if it is of any advantage to

him. He has never seemed to have phenol problems (I remember him

having 3-4 episodes of " red ears " within the last two years). I am

considering the Digest Gold again because of the higher potency in a

single capsule dose and also because PREVIOUS to the switch to

Houston Enzymes, his speech although not always clear and limited by

the Apraxia, was definitely CLEARER (as I look back in his food/supp

diary I keep for him). Also, in the past few weeks I have heard him

giggle 3-4 times at night (yeast sign), which had previously not been

a problem at all. Also, some stimming has appeared as well as not

sleeping through the night (sleeping had not been a problem).

His diet is still strict SCD, nothing new. I gave him goat yogurt

last year for about 6-7 months and then pulled it because of stimming

issues that arose. I then

immediately added the Digest Gold in anticipation of any future

problems. Luckily, he did just fine, his stools continued to be

perfect. Now, while on Houston, his stools were " kinda' starting to

look like constipation " . I waited and last week gave him probiotics

3x during the week and the problem was solved. He is only taking

Zyme-Prime right now.

So having all this information, would you think this would be a good

move in my part--to go back to the Enzymedica product? He's always

tested postive for yeast but a small problem (always a " 1+ " ). He

used to have major bacterial problems, but these have become less

problematic since SCD and enzymes. Recently, the bacteria prob was

down to 1+ and 2+'s instead of the 4+'s he had last summer. What do
