Guest guest
This is what I have to do to get amino acids in my son.... Maybe it will work for supplements too. I make a mixture of peanut butter, fleischman's unsalted margarine, and powdered sugar. Mix it well , then form into balls. add whatever meds you need to get in him into each ball and mix well. Melt 1/2 pkg semi sweet choc chips and add a little parafin wax. Dip peanut butter / med mixture into chocolate and let dry on wax paper. Then give him how ever many a day you need to! I have found that peanut butter covers nasty tastes better than anything! Dean thinks he is really getting a special treat when I pull out the " candy " !!!! Good luck, maybe this will work for you! Maranie Mom to :Dean 4, PDD-NOS; 9, NT; and Zack 12, NT [ ] Please help! Our son Ben has never liked taking supplements, but this round, he's absolutely refusing to let anything down. I have tried every possible way I can think of, and ways previously posted on the list, but he's not swallowing them. He just holds them at the back of his throat and spits them out (expressed or otherwise). And, he's getting more upset every time he has to have them. He starts generating this phlegm like stuff in his mouth and throat and starts screaming and crying. Please help. If there is any other way, other than previously posted, that you have found to get your child to take supplements, please let me know. Guest guest
Kris Maybe we overdo our supplementation and that turns them off. I know I did that last week by oversupplementing zinc. It made my daughter want to throw up. Fortunately she understood my explanation and has softened her resolve not to take her supplements but she was very upset for the next few days. Maybe this is the only way he has of telling you something made him feel sick. I still feel stupid about what i did last week with her zinc. sheepishly. We really need to listen (with ears, eyes and heart) to what they are saying. Guest guest
Don't know if this will help, but we used to break open capsules, mix with fruit syrup (find in the maple syrup aisle - brands are smuckers, knotts) then shoot it in a medicine syringe into his mouth. I've been able to get lots of nasty stuff in this way. If kid is very resistant, start with just the syrup until he knows it tastes good, then add supplements gradually. My guy liked Raspberry, Boysenberry best. Good luck! Guest guest
I don't know which supplements you're using, but I crush most pills (and empty capsule contents) and add them to pearsauce. If your child can eat things like pudding or such, I would add them in and Don't mention supplements. You could also add them in with rice dishes or cereal or whatever he eats well. Good luck. that's a tough one! [ ] Please help! Our son Ben has never liked taking supplements, but this round, he's absolutely refusing to let anything down. Guest guest
Hi!, Some of this has been posted before, so, I'm sorry folks, but this is a struggle for everybody with really little ones. I'll give you what we have FINALLY managed with my 4 year old grandson (3 when we started). I hope it helps and is not something you have heard before. We FINALLY went to allherb.com and under supplements, brands went to " source natural " (gf/cf-good brand as you know) All that we could get in " sublingual " we did (orange or peppermint available) they can chew them up (if grit is not a sensory issue) or if it is they will disolve in liquid. Also, being sublingual, it is absorbed into the blood stream even if it is the vessels in the gut wall and you get more absorbtion rate if the gut is a problem. (side benefit, we were just trying to figure out something that would dissolve!!!!!) They even have coenzyme-10 and B. " Chem-Defense " has molybdenum and glutathione and I think B-1;if your childs protocal includes these. also b-1 by its self etc. (all 1/2 price right now too) There is a " hic-up cup " that we found didn't work for us, (he still tryed to chew, and there ya go again!) I will include the manf./etc. It is hard to explain, but, there is a lip that extends past the rim of the cup that kind of holds the tongue down. A " platform " for a pill to rest on is about 1/2 in down inside the rim. You put fluid in the cup, rest the pill on the " shelf/platform " and tip it up...should go to the back of the throat and be swallowed. Someone suggested tic-tac's for practice swallowing pills, could test that way...if he chewed, it wouldn't matter until you could find out if this worked. Here is what I have on the cup. called " Hic-up stopper with pill taker feature " by: Apothecary Products, Item # 67122 - office in Minn., MI - sorry, no # on it. A good drug store should be able to get it for you. Last the awful, awful, yucky smelly DMSA - Put it in a little strong flavored liquid that your child will take (about 1 to 1/2 " of Sunny D works for my daughter) in a sippy cup with the lid on tight and cover the " sucking " hole with your finger until you get it in their mouth. You can get it in that way!!!! Try real hard not to let them stop until it is all gone. They don't taste it - 'til they stop. She has spent a ton of money, time, tears (YOU KNOW!!) and this is working for us. I hope at least PART of this works for you... Oh! if the pills are not " gel caps " oil them, so they will SLIDE down on the pill cup thing. LOL, what you mom's and dad's (and grammy's too) go through. And everybody keeps saying, " the faster you can get them to swallow a pill, the better off you'll be, keep working on it " UGHHHHHHH!!! One LAST thing. Someone posted about brainworks liquid sup. tasting good and going down well in liquid. It does. It is lemoney and doesn't taste to " vitaminy " ya know?? It is at brainworks.com and if you e-mail, they will send a sample (money not wasted - again!) It doesn't have everything just right, so she is adding to it with sublinguals. They have I,II and III but II and III had thing he shouldn't have and III, I believe had ALA. So, check it out. She tried #I, it was closest to his protocol. It has been such a struggle, as you know, so, I hope ANY of this helps. Guest guest
Hi , Wow, I could've written this saga myself! Unfortunately, I had almost the *exact* same situation with my son several years ago. What I found most effective was to speak (extensively <g>) with Cantor who is an amazing resource in terms of advocacy and placement (she's the director of Summit Speech School, if I recall her name correctly), and Therese Sheehan at the State Department of Education. My son was initially denied services, and my dh and I sat down and wrote a 4 page letter outlining the "error of their ways" and requested a due process hearing, which at least got us a second round of evaluations with more qualified personnel. I can so clearly remember thinking I'd jumped on a lifeboat when I contacted Special Services, and very quickly realizing the horrible reality. Best of luck, , please contact me if I can be of any help to you. -Elyssa Mom to Schuyler (7, hearing impaired, CAPD, possible AS, possible TS), Aubrey (4), and Teagan (20 months, possible apraxia) Princeton, NJ, formerly Wyckoff, NJ In a message dated 5/10/2001 1:50:49 PM Eastern Daylight Time, md070264@... writes: Hi Everyone, My son Bobby had his speech eval today for the special ed. program at our public school. May 10 at 8:15 am . I am a little concerned and I need some help and advice on where to go from here. Let me explain. The SLP did his eval. and his case worker watched and took notes. They both commented on how well behaved he was and that his receptive and cognitive scores were extremely high, well above his age level. He will be 3 in July. I had a chance to speak to both of them after the eval while they observed him interacting with the other children in the class. Again they were shocked with his social skills as well. The SLP told me his expressive lang. was about 18 months or under but could'nt really give me an assessment until she did her report. The social worker told me she wants to test him May 17 for his ability to learn. When I questioned her why she told me that in order to qualify for their program a child has to have a disability and that disability has to inhibit them from learning. And then proceeded to hint because Bobby scored so high on his receptive and cognitive part of the SLP eval that he might not even qualify for their program. Okay so now I am in a total panic. I then said well the fact that my son has little speech and can not communicate is'nt that going to inhibit his learning? She said not really let's see how he does in the eval and go from there. So now I am in a total panic. Bobby is very intelligent for his age but I believe it's because he over compensates because of his lack of speech. I have heard that most apraxic kids are well above their age level in receptive lang for that very reason. So now I'm afraid that they won't accept him in the program because he's to smart. Doe's that make any sense to any one? I knew I was going to have a fight on my hands because I want to prove their program can not provide Bobby the speech therapy he needs because they will only give him one on one speech once a week and he needs it 4 times a week. I want them to send him out of district to the Summit Speech School. I never dreamed he would'nt qualify for their program. If there is any one out there who has run into the same problem or if you know of someone I can contact about his rights and where to go from here please let me know. I don't know what to do next and I'm so afraid. I need as much info as I can get my hands on so I can fight for my son. I feel like bursting into tears, he has come so far since he was diag. and I don't want him regress. I'm so afraid he won't get the help he needs because of red tape. Thanks Mom to Bobby almost 3 and almost 5 Bernardsville NJ
Guest guest
This is for , don't feel like the lone ranger here! I have two air quality reports done about 6 months apart and both are so badly contaminated. I have three doctors who has written me letters to never return back to that building. But guess what worker's comp just denied my claim again!!! so the reports that cost about $75,000.00 total did not do us any good at all. I have a list of illness's that are from that building, number one thing is migraines, they say all of my sinus infections (three months straight) are pre-existing and the migraines, rashes, swollen face. are all pre-existing. I have recently had spinal cord surgery to have a shunt put in as well. I guess they will try and tell me that that was pre-existing. I am beginning to believe there is no help for us. I have been home going on my third month leave without pay. I had to file bankruptcy etc. I can understand what you are saying 100% just hang in there and what ever you do don't give up. I have two suits going on. One against WC and the second against the owner of the building. every time I think things are going good WC puts a kink in it. but I got new for them, I AM NOT GOING AWAY!! sorry, just had to vent my self. good luck. Maybe its just for the government but worth looking into. I dont blame you for being upset. I was ambushed by high officials the other day while I was very sick and emotional. Guest guest
Hello, I had saline implants inserted 15 years ago. For the first 8yrs. I was very active, worked had 2 kids and ran 4 miles a day. Then in 2001, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I had a cervical fusion and started hurting all over after that. It has been down hill ever since. The only health problems I had before 2001 was TMJ and had 2 surgeries for that. I want to get my implants out with Dr. Feng. Do you know if insurance will possibly cover? I know it is about 8000. All these years, I have thought my implants were fine and know i have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in which the thyroid attacks thyroid cells, they see them as a foreign invader. I have no thyroid functioning and I have never had a weight problem. i have always weighed 130 and now in less than 3 years my weight has gone up to 180. Do any of you have Hashimoto's thyroid? and lastly, do any of you have an increased c-reactive protein? It increases in your body if you have inflammation and it is a major risk factor for heart disease. It makes your coronary arteries inflame and you are more prone to heart attacks. I am so sick of doctors telling you none of the above is related to breast implants. Gynecologist, primary, rheumy, endocrinologist. They all act like if you are happy with yourself leave them alone. Please give me so feedback. I am desperate...

Guest guest
Barbara & group, I just joined, & this sounds like my story. I've been in my building for 4 years & ever since I've become sicker & sicker. Spent thousands on my health care to get better to no avail. I told my manager several time that the building had mold & should be checked & he never did it. He too is suffering from symtoms now. But he's leaving to a new job. I am kicking myself for not pushing this before. A while ago my md found a spot on my lungs. Had no idea what is. Now I need to check it out for Aspergilosis. How can I get this diagnosed? Were you able to claim worker's comp? I am so sick, fatigued all day. Migraine headaches. I talked to a lawyer today about WC & she said I have to have prove of the cause.Tested connection. There is an environmental doctor that can test (expensive) to see what it is in the blood? What did you or anyone have done? Then she said I have to have the proof that there are those toxins in the building. Will they test if they know they are going to be liable??? Has anyone claimed WC successfully. I know this is hard to prove. My coworkers are sick also but not as bad as I am. I cannot go back into the office. I am working from home for now but they are hiring a new manager & I don't know where things are going to go from here. I am going to fire an email to HR this weekend to urge them to test & treat immediately. The owner of my co just sold this toxic building about 6 mos ago. They new owner is cleaning it but he is just spewing the mold everywhere & we are all more sick from that. I'm so stressed because without my income we cannot afford to stay in our house. Our house needs some repair before we can sell it. My kids love it here, I don't want to move but if I don't get workers comp or get better which seems far fetched in the near future anyway, we have to reduce our expenses. Has anyone used Oil of Oregano to kill the mold in the body? I bought the book The cure is in the cupboard & it sounds amazing. I appreciate any help I can get. Guest guest
You need to see a pulmonologist. Only a lawyer can tell you if you have a workman's comp case. You do have to have proof and a doctor's deposition or testimony stating the workplace is the cause. Rosser <rossercustomhomes@...> wrote: Barbara & group, I just joined, & this sounds like my story. Guest guest
A pulmonologist is a lung doctor. If you have a spot on your lung your PC doctor should refer you to on. Guest guest
Loni, I have spots in my lungs and body and they are Granulomatous lesions. They were diagnosed after a Cat Scan. Mine were from inhaling Stachybotrys Mold and other contaminates while at work. I tried " Fungal Defense " and " Oil of Oregano " and nothing has changed. My Immune system is very low and I have Immugamogoblin (sp) every 4 weeks. 48 grams of IVIG. I don't know if that is why my body does not respond to the anti fungals or if it is because my exposure was so severe. I will keep trying though...if you hear of anything else, let me know. I have not had any luck with WC yet, but I will keep at them. Good luck. Marcie Kathy <kathywnb@...> wrote: A pulmonologist is a lung doctor. Guest guest
Marcie, Have you checked this 'Oil of Oregano' out for potential toxicity? Many of these aromatic plant oils get processed by the body in such a way that they are carcinogenic.. Like Parsley, sage, dill, nutmeg, anise, just FYI. This is why they tell people to be sparing with parsley these days So, ..Please ask your doctor about this. I have a LOT of stuff to do today or I would volunteer to track it down for you. Check TOPAS first.. (I think thats its name? The toxicology database.) BTW, I would think that you are eligable for Workmans Comp if you received this lung injury while at work. Do you live in the USA? So, actually, I felt bad about what I said above and spent a minute looking and found these web pages.. (This isn't enough.. please do some more research unless you only plan to take this stuff for a few days.) Check them out: http://eethomp.com/AT/dangerous_oils.html seems like.. Oil of oregano isn't one of the worst offenders.. Thank God.. But it is 'orally toxic'.. in doses higher than they mention.. They say dont drink it, put only a few drops of it into a capsule.. And always with supplements, tell your doctor that you are taking it.. Even if they don't know anything about them, print the stuff you read about it out and give it to them. ESPECIALLY - DONT LET CHILDREN ANYWHERE NEAR IT. Other pages on oil of oregano.. (looks interesting, I will def. give this to my wofe, who seems to have this candida issue too, I am pretty sure..Our apartment has a serious mold problem.) http://www.wholehealthmd.com/refshelf/substances_view/1,1525,10116,00.html http://www.wholehealthmd.com/hc/resourceareas_more/1,2308,560,00.html Oh, another thought.. I saw a study reecently that indicated that FISH OIL was very useful in protecting the lungs from injury from mold-like injuries. Also, things like alpha-lipoic acid, n-acetyl-cysteine and ESPECIALLY, lots of Vitamins C, E, selenium, zinc, folic acid, (megadoses of C,E, and folic acid. You can take up to several MILLIgrams a day of folic acid.. safely.. up to 10 times the RDA. But with selenium, and some other vitamins like Vitamin A + D, you have to really watch out that you aren't taking too much.. Ask your doctor.. I'd also look into Coenzume Q10 and/or idebenone.. Good luck! And now I have to get off of here and do some work... On 11/4/05, Marcie McGovern <marcie1029@...> wrote: > Loni, > > I have spots in my lungs and body and they are Granulomatous lesions.
