Hi All,

I am going to go to my GP on Monday to talk to her about LDN.

Before I go I'd like to know some things in case she asks me: -

Where in the UK can you get LDN and how much does it cost?

I have R & R MS, has any other member with R & R had positive effects with LDN?

What dosage would I start on?

Does anyone know the answers to theses questions?

Thanks in advance

Iain

Hi there Iain,

Welcome to the group. Good luck with your doc on Monday. Not sure about

where to get LDN in the UK but I know ce from the spotlight_ldn

group is from the UK. Not sure if he is a member here or not. I'll cc this

message to that group as well. As far as your question about RR ms...it does

not matter what type of ms you have. They are all the same as far as LDN is

concerned. As far as the dose. Most of us are on 4.5 mg but several have had

problems with spasticity at that dose and went back to the 3 mg dose. You

might want to start with 3mg and if you have no problems you can up the dose

on your first refill to the 4.5 mg which is what Dr. Bihari recommends.

Hi Ian, welcome to the group.

There doesn't appear to be many UK users in this group but I know there are

quite a few out there from reading comments made on the MSRC (Multiple

Sclerosis Research Centre) website. If you haven't found this yet check out

www.msrc.co.uk in particular the message board for some very interesting

comments. I found my source through the New Pathways magazine which is

produced by the MSRC and again worth subscribing to - if for no other reason

than to help this brilliant but struggling organisation keep afloat - I have

found the mag extremely informative and very positive.

I was unable to get LDN from either my GP or my neurologist because it has

not been trialled in this country neither were willing to prescribe.

However Dr Lawrence has MS himself and although he is apparently swamped

with requests he is worth a try. Simply write to him at the address below

giving a brief history of your MS symptoms and hopefully he will reply with

a fact sheet (including prices) and an order form. The capsules cost £25

(p & p £90p) for a 30 day supply. His details are as follows:

Dr M R Lawrence

Dietary Research Ltd

10 Heol Gerrig

Treboeth

Swansea

West Glam SA5 9BP

I took 3mg for 1 month with good results but after joining my local gym and

training 3 times a week if found my legs were getting stiff but I assumed

that was the bike riding. However, after starting the 4.5mg the second

month the stiffness became more intense even though I was on holiday, not

using the gym and being pushed about in a wheelchair. I am now going to

reduce the dosage for a while to see how I get on. I have secondary

progressive so any improvement is a bonus to me and I have found that I am

sleeping much better, the burning sensation in my right leg has all but

disappeared and I do have more energy, especially in the mornings.

I hope you are successful and continue to post to the group - I am sure

everyone will be interested in how you get on.

Good luck

Sue
