Guest guest
I wrote a quicky note this afternoon about finaly getting my precription all straightened out, but wanted to elaborate a bit on my day at a new medical facility. My Internist had an MRI done of my back several months ago and FINALLY got around to doing something abou it. He sent me to Hershey Medical Center in Hershey Pa. to an Orthepedic Specialist who deals only in "backs." This turned out to be one of my most delightful days since being dx'd with MD! This doctor was so well versed on MS, I could barely believe my ears. Not only that, he Openly commented on the fact that I had a nursing background which made me a better patient! Whoa, I couldn' believe my ears............those were his first 10,000 points! After a very thorough exam, which I swear was better than any Neuro had ever done, he proceeded to tell me about the advantages of coming to a Teaching HOspital! He told me so many things I'd never heard from anyone before. First and foremost was that I was so spastic it's a wonder I'm still walking at all! Never knew that!! Put me on Baclofen and Flexoril and promised I'd sleep through the night for a change since most MS'ers are insomniacs! That really stunned me. Then set me up for Neurological Therapy (for my back!) to be done there since there's no one in my area who has the slightest idea what that is! Also said my posture, gait, etc. had really messed up my pelvic area which is why it's showing as back pain. Then he set me up for MS Clinic which I hadn't attended in at least 10 years. Stating there are so many improvements having been made (i.e., the heavy metal short leg braces I wear!) and many other improvements they can help me with like my speech problems. I also informed him I'd be starting LDN as soon as I got it and he was delighted..........believes in any complimentary medicine that will help! Did you ever have a day that just seemed to go too right? Well, this was it, and after taking the first Baclofen and hour ago, I feel like a ragdoll for a change instead of a keyed up ready to spring clock! Don't feel like "babbling" often, but toda was just too good to be true and needed to share it with others who have definetly been where I've been for the last 25 years...............I'll say no more. Thanks for listening! C & Toby the Wonder Dog (Yes, he even commented on Toby saying what a well mannered and good Service Dog he was, another 100,000 points!)
