Guest guest
bonnie- I always take my mtx before bed and then sleep through the nausea. It helps. Getting something for the nausea via prescription might help too but I have ALWAYS taken before sleep. It always works. Guest guest
BID- means twice a day. In medical terminology is defined as every 12 hrs. It comes from the latin "bis in die" You may also see it abbreviated as BD. QD- means once daily TID- three times a day ( or every 8 hrs) QID-four times a day (or every 6 hrs) QHS- once a day at bedtime AC- before meals PC- after meals Q2h- every 2 hrs...you can change the number to reflect the time frame I hope that helps. Toni Re: nausea Posted by: "Deborah Bargad" dbargad@... briah1961 Fri Jul 6, 2007 1:37 am (PST) BID means to SPLIT THE DOSE UP. Take four pills one night and four the nextnight. I took my 3 pills last night and tonight before I go to bed. RD isshort for rheumatologist. If I took 6 pills I would be sick. It just eatsa hole in my stomach. My body likes the smaller dose over two days muchbetter. I know its confusing. Just listen to your body. I tend to drinkalot when on MTX to rehydrate myself. It does help. Guest guest
I give myself the shot. And they don't hurt because the needles are so small. I used to be afraid of needles also. Guest guest
i drink a lot all the time, i think the " recommended amount " of water is 1/2 oz for each pound of body weight and i drink a lot more than that throughout the day . . . . . . i think i will talk to my rheumy (that's the only abbreviation i've ever seen) about maybe taking the pills saturday night and sunday night at bedtime and see what he says. would certainly be an easy fix . . . . thanks, b/b > > > > > > > > > > > > do any of you take anything for nausea . . . . . i only want > > > > something > > > > > > i can take on an as-needed basis since i think the mtx makes > > me > > > > > > somewhat queasy on the weekends and everything i've heard of > > so > > > > far are > > > > > > meds you take on a regular basis. haven't called my doc > > > > yet . . . . am > > > > > > actually thinking of looking for something otc first. any > > > > suggestions ? > > > > > > > > > > > > thx, bon/boys > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
well, i'm still hoping not to have to do that . . . . at least until they come up with those ballpoint pen type things . . . . . i *might* (but that's only might) be able to deal with those. hugs, me/boys > > > > > > > > do any of you take anything for nausea . . . . . i only want > > something > > > > i can take on an as-needed basis since i think the mtx makes me > > > > somewhat queasy on the weekends and everything i've heard of so > > far are > > > > meds you take on a regular basis. haven't called my doc > > yet . . . . am > > > > actually thinking of looking for something otc first. any > > suggestions ? > > > > > > > > thx, bon/boys > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _ > ____________ __ > > Choose the right car based on your needs. Guest guest
Hello, Im new to the group. After having a cervical fusion I began having increased body aches and during my lastest physical I askedmy primary doc to test for RA. The test came back that my levels were twice what they should be (30) and she refered me to a rheumatologist. However I cant get in to see him until October because he is so booked and he's the only one accepted by my hmo. can an injury in one area of the body cause you to get RA ? Also what can I expect from my rheumatologist ? I also live in s.calif currently but want to move to connecticut to be closer to family. Do any of you live in a climate with cold damp winters ? Guest guest
Bonnie-- I've taken MTX (15mg/wk) for almost 2 years now. My doctor prescribes 10 mg Leucovorin (folinic acid) for me to take at the same time I take the MTX. He says that the Leucovorin helps with the side effects of MTX even better than folic acid. I do know that I've never had any problems with nausea or any other side effects from the MTX. You might ask your doctor about Leucovorin to see what he thinks. Best of luck to you! dordale
