Guest guest
Hi Rose, Thanks for the hug Right back at ya. Reading that made me feel better. I always hate to think the worst of people, it's almost a fault at this point, especially with this. You're right, they are very good at changing the subject and slipping out of uncomfortable topics. I seriously got the run around on the IEP modifications I requested and now do see it was most likely deliberate. I am still so upset about how badly they mangled his IEP. That cannot have been an oversight. You would not believe it if you compared his old one with the new one. For instance, his old IEP is about an inch thick and his new one is about 1/8 of an inch. That ought to tell you something right there. Uggh, I just hope things get settled soon. Oh, I forgot to mention this before, but since Q is in a new school, I will have to deal with a completely new IEP team and sp.ed. supervisor for any changes. I am hoping that ends up being a good thing in the end as the old school and team, well, sucked. Ok, must pass out now Thanks again Rose. Take care, Tabitha Re: ( ) I think I am going to have to kick some butt.... Here is a big hug to you... I think they do know what they are doing, that's why that happened. They did it deliberately because they know us parents go to these meetings hoping for the best for our children & want the most we can get to help our children. their goal is to " not spend money " that is why I said " they know what they did " they hoped you will come in exhausted, stressed, concerned & caring " so they can do their slick move. is this manipulation? That, they are good at!! hummmm. Keep your focus, strength, & reminder notes for you mom, to help stay focused. they are good for changing the subject without your concern/question answered! When the going gets tough, the tough gets going right back in there! LOL now go kick some butt. hugs again, Please let us know how your next CSE meeting goes with fixing the IEP. I was given the impression that the IEP modifications I requested were going to be added into the IEP. They weren't. Q's new teacher did sign off on them, so that is good, but they are not part of his IEP. When the sp.ed. supervisor was reading off the new IEP info, I made the HUGE mistake of thinking these things were in addition to his old IEP info. They weren't. That was it. His IEP has been stripped. His FBA, gone. Counseling, gone. Behavior interventions like quiet room, gone. Meaningful education goals, gone. The new IEP is written in the most simplistic language with the least amount of words possible. On top of that, it is chock full of spelling and grammatical errors. Scary. I still think the ED class is better than the placement he was in before but his IEP is worthless. Utterly worthless. And I signed it. Like the big moron I am. I wasn't actually able to get the IEP into my hands until after everything was said and done. I was so busy worrying about this and that and researching and printing and informing that I made the huge mistake of trusting these idiots. Of thinking somehow they actually knew a little about what they were doing. Of course, you would think people with bachelors and masters actually had a brain, but apparently not. This IEP just proves how lazy and uninvolved and uneducated these people are. Again, scary. I am sending in a letter to formally revoke my approval of the IEP, but this is just going to add more problems. I am already on thin ice with these guys for being such a PITA so far, but you know what, I don't care. I'll try to be as diplomatic as possible, but will kick butt if I have to. All they have to do is add back in the things from his old IEP they stripped and rewrite it so that it doesn't look like my 3rd grader wrote it. Sounds simple huh? I have a feeling though it will be anything but simple. Anyway, take this as a cautionary tale. Don't get so wrapped up in the details that you forget something as basic as taking home the IEP before signing it. Duh.
