Guest guest
I filed for Social Security Disability after I qualified for it at my job. I documented when I first started having MS symptoms over the years and the month and year they started. i took a long time to document every single symptom I had, when and if it went away and how the disability gradually became worse and worse, to the point that I could no longer function at my job as an RN in a hospital setting. I also documented in great detail every single task I had to do to do my job and I documented all of the walking I had to do, what happened when I walked too much, how it effected me in everything I did at home as well. I was meticulous in my documentation. I was awarded Social Security Disability zfter applying only one time. So that's whzt I would do if I were you. I didn't exaggerate but I presented it a very harsh light, it was difficult to do because I always tried to look at it in the most positve way I could, I took a good look at how I used to function and the way I was really functioning. There was a vast difference between the two. I hope you get it.

Guest guest
Hi , I am on disability. I was approved before I was diagnosed with RA, but my hands were already in bad shape, and when I saw their bone doctor, he noted that and included it in his report. Also at the time I used a walker, I couldn't walk even 1 step without it, and I had horrible calouses on my hands, when the dr. saw that he knew for sure that I had to use the walker and wasn't just using it as a prop to get disability. So I don't really know anything about applying and getting it with RA as the basis. If you are going to apply, good luck! Guest guest
I have been on social security disability since 03. My application went right through the first time I applied. Had no problems like a lot of the people are having. Didn't need a lawyer either. Good luck to you, Shay, Michigan -- [ ] Social Security Disability Benefits Hi fellow RA sufferers - Just wondering how many of you have applied for and/or have been granted disability benefits... Guest guest
Before I was initially granted disability I was denied 6 times. My PCP sent me to a RA doctor after getting a high SET rate and I was suppose to go before a Law judge for determination. The RA doctor put me through so many tests and sent in the results and I was granted my disability. I cam off work due to back injury and was unable to use my right leg due to numbness and temporary paralysis from 4 disks pressing on nerves in my lower back. I had 3 surgeries before they would not do anymore and I was diagnosed with having Lower Lumbar Deterioration with nerve damage. I did have a disability lawyer who did the foot work for me and he got most of my reward and but having worked over 15 years helped also. I wished that I could still get up early and go to work besides sitting home and fighting constant pain and flare ups. I do strenous work around the house like vaccuming and my fingers or wrists swell and hurt. I have to have things at arms length or I can't lift or bend to pick things up. Standing for long periods or sitting for long times is a pain and I would never wish this type of misery on my worst enemy. Guest guest
Hi - I applied for SSD in March, 2006 and FINALLY had an adjudication hearing on June 25th of this year. I've been told they have up to three months (90 days) to make a determination, so I'm still waiting.....Doreen Hi fellow RA sufferers - Just wondering how many of you have applied for and/or have been granted disability benefits...
